Youtube Copyright - Its Not Just Youtube The Companies are Just as Stupid

It spreads further to the companies bad management. So after receiving multiple copyright claims I decided to try and take action with them. I found it's best to contact the companies directly instead of just being an idiot and disputing EVERY LAST claim you get. After all you might end up having to deal with a company in court and they likely have more money than you. They also have the right to throw up copyright on pretty much everything.

So yeah here's a summary of companies I've contacted and the results so far.

Nintendo: Yeah forget about it. They're not retracting anything. Especially since they were among the first companies to come out and say that they're not taking claims down and instead if you work with them they'll give you a very small cut of the profits you make in AD Revenue off there videos. But that's only if you submit to there terms.

INGrooves: Pretty much in the same boat as Nintendo. Even if they're a 3rd party company they apparently own the rights to whatever song they have. And pretty much don't care. Trying to find contact information was impossible too.

Namco-Bandai/Bandai:  LOL these guys will give you the run around. So I first went to there official page and posted my question. They came back to me in about a day saying that there department can't help me and I should call there legal department. But likely I won't have any of my questions answered unless its a true legal claim (like you want to sue them or something.) and they'll just send you to there twitter or facebook page.

Well that's what happened. I sent a tweet to these guys first...No answer. Now you can't just say that my tweet wasn't seen cause there's a nice notification tab to let you know you were sent a tweet.  So I went to there facebook page. It says that if I message them they'll get back to me in a day. 2 Days later I get an answer and not a good one. They sent me to the youtube help page. Yeah....-_- Good management guys.

Square Enix: Good luck getting in contact with them. Like Namco-Bandai you have to send an email through there site. I recieved an automatic notification that my mail was received and that they'll get back to me in 48 hours. Well its been 60 hours and counting. Maybe they mean from the day I received the automatic email so that's slightly less than 2 days right now.

Capcom: These guys I expected to respond favorably. Since back in 2013 they came on twitter, facebook, and other forums saying if there's any problems with copyright let them know. Like the last 2 companies. I had to use there site to send them a message. And its been 4 days. Even hit up there twitter. Good job Capcom. You really know how to handle your business.

Merlin/IDOL/Phonofile: These guys are all under the same name. Now I actually got in contact with these guys and got a favorable response. Practically the same day I sent it out. They apologized and immediately retracted all claims made and white listed my channel.  So there's some companies out there that actually help out.
IDOL's email:  contact@idolweb.fr

Companies still trying to find contact info from.

PRS CS
ARTISJUS_CS
TEOSTO CS - These guys have a page that says there shouldn't be any claims made by them and that its a mistake. But no email and no help to say "hey we'll retract the claim."

Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends - It's Just a Smash Clone

Take Smash Bros and copy and paste Kung Fu Panda Characters. Game gives me a bit of a headache. I don't know why people think that making a Smash clone is the way to attract people to buy this game. Not only that but this game has DLC that costs money. And even more DLC to come when Kung Fu Panda 3 comes out.

Good Points:

  • Online Play (Can't believe I'm saying this)
  • Somewhat decent stages
  • Decent amount of characters
  • Items aren't unbalanced, instant win.
  • You don't have to fight over a Smash ball to perform you "Awesome!" Attack (its basically your final smash).
  • You have this crazy looking dodge mechanic that can save you as a last resort.

Bad Points:

  • Every character pretty much stole a Smash character's special and final smash moves.
  • Game feels sluggish
  • Hit Detection issues.
  • Its a Smash Bros. Clone.
  • Music is dull.
  • As much as I hate to say it. Voices aren't really trying and have some of the most corny quotes.
  • What do half these items do?
  • AI ranges from complete idiot to OMGWTFBBQ Sauce. And its random even at the highest difficulty.
  • Online is already dying or dead.

AI Exploit - Regardless of whether you do this on purpose or not. The AI has a tendency to just hit the guard button and stand there for a few seconds. Guards are easily broken in this game so you can just chip away at there barrier and they'll be dizzy for REALLY LONG TIME! Just do a fully charge Smash attack right after.

The AI also has a bit of a self-destructive/give up personality at times. I've seen many times where one of the AI opponents just stood there as they were pushed off the stage and not even bother to recover. Even hang on ledges and just fall.

Wolf Boss - Feels a lot like Gannondorf and DK fused together with Brawl Pit's Final Smash. Special moves other than his Up+Special and Down+Special have too much wind-up

Tai Lung - Lucario + Mario. His counter heck every character's counter move sucks cause counters have less far frames than Hakumen's 5D. Love his super though.

Master Chicken - Fox without a blaster or reflector. No seriously that's what this guy is. Even has the tendency to Self-Destruct off his famous forward+special. Then give him Pikachu's Volt Tackle final smash as his Super.

Master Croc - Like DK, Luigi, with Gannondorf's Final Smash. Dude has tons of range. Just slow and awkward to hit with.

That's about all I can stand of this game. The music is a major turn off for me in this game. What's worse this game doesn't allow me to use my personal controller. I was stuck using my standard Dualshock 3 which I hate cause it can't hold a charge for more than 2-3 hours. I'm also turned off how there's ALREADY DLC THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO GET! There's 2 characters you can get for free. Then there's characters that cost 3 bucks each to get. Then there's DLC that's not even released yet cause the movie hasn't released yet. Yeah the Kung Fu Panda 3 Movie is when they're supposed to release the other DLC apparently.  This game is a pass.  If you're getting it. You're getting it cause you're a fan. Hopefully you bought it for cheap. Online is already dead. I spent a good half hour searching for a match. No go.

YT Copyright Bull$%&@!!! How it should be Handled

I made this video as a semi-joke video in response to how ridiculous copyright claims/strikes are. Virtually everything can be claimed as copyright now. Besides the fact that there's fake companies claiming copyright on videos. Legit companies are literally looking for anything and everything to claim as there own.

You can dispute this all you want but it won't work. The whole "commentary protects you from copyright" is a total myth.  Your own voice can be claimed as copyright. You can't even sing a few lyrics from some random song. You can barely talk about anything without it being claimed.
Even if your dispute works. There's 2 facts that you're forgetting.

  1.  For 30 days whoever made the claim is going to get the revenue you would've made off that video.
  2.  Even if it does clear. The same company can find something else to claim.

The other thing that bugs me is that these companies don't really care. Likely they don't even know that stuff is being claimed. Japanese companies especially fall into this category. I've personally tried to contact most of these companies so we could work something out. Never recieved a response. It can't be a language barrier issue. Cause there site can be viewed in English as well (without the help of google translate).

Nothing is really being done about this either. I bet this video will likely fall on deaf ears and roll into obscurity. I think Youtube's copyright policy should be completely overhauled. There's no communication between the (supposed) copyright owner and the uploader. Its all decided by a computer and the only time its given a serious look. Is when the situation is serious enough that someone is likely to be sued. There needs to be more communication between the company and the uploader.

How Copyright Should Be Handled (at least one way):

  • -If said company has a problem with a video. Then that company itself should come forward and say its a problem. Not let some automated computer handle it.
  • -Afterwards using Youtube/Google as a Mediator. The company and the owner of the video should establish some form of communication. In the meantime the problematic video in question should be either made unviewable by the public or unmonetized for the time being.
  • -If either party doesn't respond in a set amount of days. (lets say 1 to 2 weeks). Then the dispute is to be handled by youtube.  So if the uploader didn't respond then the copyright owner gets to decide what happens. If the Copyright Owner doesn't response the situation is decided by the uploader.
  • -Allow the 2 parties to come to some form of agreement. Whether its takedown the video.  Share the monetized profits. Edit the video. etc.

What's Going On Right Now

Man it almost seems like every holiday time I'm doing horrible. Sorry about that.

Life

I'm not exactly 100% focused on my YT channel. I managed to cut out a lot of distractions and cutoff a lot of people that I felt were holding me back especially on Skype. I'm just tired in all ways, of dealing with them along with the stress of my own life.

I finally got over this pain in my mouth. I couldn't talk for the longest time cause of it.  Still not exactly in the mood to talk. Apparently it was caused by added stress and biting of my gums while I sleep.

My mom is preparing to undergo surgery in about. 2 1/2 weeks from when I write this. Its literally right before Christmas. Not that I celebrate the holiday myself, but mom and sis do.  So I can imagine it might be rather trying for them. Mom's work schedule changed to make things more stressful for her. She lost a full off day to having a 1/2 day in the middle of her work week.

My uncle is really not doing well. Since being put on Dialysis, he's struggling. He looks like a creepy dying man from one of today's horror games. I've been told he's looked this bad before but this time its much worse. Its really thanks to all his drinking that he's like this. I'm not exactly feeling angry or sad for the situation. I am sad but its something I want to look away from for now. I'm more worried for his wife and kids since the kids don't know anything that's going on. And the mom switches between ignoring everything that's happening to panicking about the situation. Mostly the former.

All I can do is keep myself occupied with other things. I feel like things are changing for the worst right now. As if I don't keep watch then it'll sneak up on me and I won't be ready for it. Although I should keep myself worrying for today its rather difficult.

Gaming

I'm trying to record more content for you guys to watch. I doubt I'm gonna be happy after I start uploading Tales of Zestiria. I don't know how others got away with it but I always tend to be hit with copyright when it comes to almost any game from Namco-Bandai. Anyway I'm gonna try and upload the game with Japanese voices. I already listened to this in English from other ppl's playthroughs. So might as well go Japanese.

There's gonna be a bit of Kung Fu Panda. Showdown of Legendary Legends. But I doubt much from the sound of things. A lot of people hate the game already and its only been out a couple of days. I figured what the heck. Considering I don't have a Wii U/Xbone/PS4 and I'm not really interested in Star Wars.

I'm also recording Star Ocean: Till the End of Time AKA Star Ocean 3.  Kinda personal thing I wanted to do.

I'm still looking for music suggestions for many other games to edit in. Might make my life in editing easier or harder don't know.  But I felt it was a chance to allow viewers to participate. Right now I'm looking for racing game type music. I want to avoid Nintendo branded stuff as much as possible considering they're jerks about the stuff they own. But yeah I'm searching.

The playthroughs I wanna get done before the end of the year. I'm not sure if I'll get through them all. Often times its me being too tired or just not wanting to do anything but sit around.  And on my list I have 8/10 different games to finish. Most are right at the end. Just a matter of willpower I suppose.

Well that's it for what to talk about. I'll see you guys later I suppose.

December 2015 - Update: Just About On that Line of Giving Up On Youtube AdRev

Note: I can't record with my voice. I can barely talk at this point. Canker sores in my mouth are too painful to even talk/eat.  So no voice.

When I started doing Youtube Ad Revenue I said to myself that I can use this to help support myself and my family through life. I honestly hated working at various jobs either cause they're too dangerous or that you do so much work for very little. I wanted to avoid adding stress in life since I've been on the verge of suicide many times. From dish washing to Construction Worker, I simply could not put up with the stress. Thus having a partnership on youtube I figure I could avoid most of the stress I have in life and still get paid.

The problem arose when friends, family, and other acquantinces didn't believe in me at all. None of them supported this idea. They told me to go out and get a quote unquote "REAL JOB" and make "REAL MONEY".  I was determined to prove them wrong in saying I could do it. They told me that the reasons I left my older jobs were stupid and that the experiences I went through in those jobs are all apart of life and that I don't really have a choice when it comes to avoiding stress, choosing my own type of job, suicidal thoughts, etc. They called me a coward in pursuing this type of job.

I thought I was proving them wrong at first but, it slowly kept showing its face that I was completely wrong. I've been at this for quite a few years.  I managed to endure the ridiculing, the lack of encouragement, the guilt tripping, and the peer pressure.  Really I ignored it. I was pissed that no one close to me believed in me. That they still wanted to control my life. I found something that I myself wanted to do and wasn't forced into doing. I didn't want to bend over backwards for other people.

I'm not blaming anyone for my failures of Youtube Partnership but myself. I must've did something wrong with everything I tried. My circumstances can't really make an excuse for it.

Honestly I just can't see Youtube as a way to support myself any longer. I don't want to admit it but its highly likely that everyone that said I can't do it is correct. I'm not meant for it.  I can't be like other Youtubers that I feel are successful without breaking there back. Its why the title is what it is. Cause I said awhile back that if things don't change then I'll just have seriously cutback on youtube and go somewhere else.

My Problems With Youtube

Commentary

I just hate commentary. I don't want to talk over videogames. I want to listen to the game music. The in-game sound.  I know personally that commentary doesn't stop copyright claims from being thrown up. Only commentary I was willing to do was if I had to record with a webcam or attempt to make my microphone work. Even then I prefer the in-game sound over everything. I feel that viewers don't need to know what I'm thinking. I think that they're smart enough to be able to know what's going on in the game. I don't care for videogame trivia. And I really have nothing that I'm willing to talk about in a video towards my imaginary audience. Nothing I feel they should hear. Most importantly I want viewers to hear the in-game sound, not some random guy talking about whatever.

Most of all when it comes to commentary I hate doing it alone. I hate doing commentary with people I don't know. And I hate trying to record but end up with failures. I don't understand why its important for the viewers to hear my voice. Its why I wrote out stuff on this blog about my thoughts on the game. I want viewers to talk about the gameplay not some of my random thoughts.  I see this in tons of comments of videos all the time. Everyone talks about what this person said in the video not about the gameplay. It bothers me. What's the point of even having gameplay. You just make it a radio talk show.

Live-Streaming

I hate livestreaming now. Not only do the livestreaming sites require high end specs. But its more about talking to the chat than it is actually playing the game. Even more I'm bothered by people that constantly go on and on about how they want to be acknowledge. I feel even worse when I see constant notifications about how this person subscribed or how much he/she donated. I'm not saying people don't deserve be acknowledged but I feel like they're life is depending on whether someone say hi to them.
I also hate that streaming viewers is dependant on if you can stream for more than 4 hours a day. I don't want to do that anymore. I not only lack the proper equipment to stream. But when it comes to software problems the software developers never answer my problems. Really I should say they answer once then go away and never return.
I'm also bothered by what seems to be the trend is acting like an idiot, yelling, screaming, at everything and making bad sex jokes.

Patreon

I've already pretty much given up on this P.O.S. site. Its hacked way more than Paypal. You get FAR LESS MONEY going through them. Even the $1 I received from one person I can't even claim. Because Patreon took a cut of that $1. Then Paypal took a cut as well. According to Patreon's ruling I can't take it cause the total is less than a dollar.

I only took a chance on it cause I was pressured into it. I figured why not. Lets see how much this works.

Not Playing M-Rated Games

Yes. I feel this is a factor to my popularity. I simply refuse to play M Rated games. I can't stand them at this point. They disturb me to the point that I'll end up having nightmares or reminded of a traumatic experience. While I realize there's some games I want to play that are M-Rated. I feel I shouldn't compromise on my standing just cause 1 or 2 games are something I like.

Online-Play

I'm still reluctant to try and play online. I've had way too many horrible experiences with it.  I rather not subject myself to it again to torture myself. Even when I feel brave enough to jump online. By the time I do no one's around. Everyone's left for the next biggest game. I pretty much stopped relying on friends to play some random online multiplayer game with. They pretty much stopped by the time I reach halfway.  I got to the point that I personally remove those people from Skype cause they're just taking up space. Or worse all they want to talk about is there personal problems they have with my youtube channel.

Other things I Want to Note

Wishy-Washy people.

I won't want to use the word hypocrite since it sounds rather harsh. I pretty much unsubscribed from these people as a whole. I got sick of hearing it really.

  • Example:  How can you say Tales of Zestiria is such a horrible game when you're still playing it. Or worse I should say you're playing through it more than once. I can understand getting your money's worth but to do something like say buy the Japanese version then later buy the English version. Is it really as horrible as you say it is or are you holding something you found wrong against it? I can't see the logic there. I guess our definitions of horrible are vastly different.

Only One Way To Play

I still hate these people. I can't stand em. Your strategy isn't absolute. Unless you yourself made absolutely certain that your way is the ONLY way to play. Then shut up.

Common Courtesy

I tend to misuse the word respect when it comes to this. You can carry on a discussion/argument/whatever without the need to insult someone. If you can't do that then whatever we were talking about is over.

Graphic/FPS (Frames-Per-Second) Nazis

I really don't care for graphics. If I want graphics then I can just surf google for whatever game/movie image I want to see. The stuff I find is drawn far better than what I see in a game/movie.
The whole beg for 720, 1080, 1440, 4000p. Ugh...So annoying to deal with. I don't like up-scaling anything. I like playing in the quality that is either original or one where I don't have to pay 500 bucks for.  When you upscale quality. You end up pretty much destroying the graphics you supposedly love. Even if you smooth it over. It doesn't help.

Frames per Second.  Ugh...I guess you see things in slow-motion or something. I can't tell the difference between frame rates. You can show me all the example videos, data, whatever. I don't see the difference. To me the Phrase "Frames Per Second" is just some lame argument point that people use when they want to prove something. I don't think people are thinking about frame data when they're playing Halo.  While you can say its used in fighting games. I have a feeling that goes out the window when a match starts. Really I think people use frame data as a way to try and sound smart.

Honestly someone else said this best. But if your top value is graphics and I mean in terms of quality. You're likely spoiled and you're gonna end up hating the current game you're playing right now in about 10-20 years. You probably won't even notice it. Cause these graphics you love today will become obsolete.  If you can't appreciate it the old stuff. Then just toss the games your currently playing in the garbage after 5 years.  I'm sorry but I'm really bothered by people that are pretty much Graphic Nazis.

Why aren't you commenting?

Really I'm looking for the honest answer. Cause Youtube's ratings or analyitics or whatever its called is crap. I can't base anything on it. The only comments I remove are insults and spam. And really I don't even remove those cause Google does it on its own. I might see a random comment on my phone or Gmail as a notification. Then when I try to view the full comment its dissapeared. Why? Cause Google already marked it as spam. I do go over those comments and decide for myself if its spam or not.

But anyway why aren't you commenting? I just want an honest answer. To me if someone comments then that means something in the video is good or there's something to take notice of. I hate the like system cause there's those people that will just like every single video you upload. I almost feel like its a bot. I guess it doesn't matter now considering the way things are.

Packing My Things

I pretty much prepared myself for the likely scenario of what's to happen with my Youtube channel. I know people say don't start doubting yourself or you won't succeed. But I don't think that applies to me in this case. Its likely that the month of December won't see a noticeable change in views and ad revenue. You can cry the simple answers that I always hear but I have responses for all of them.

  • Commentary: I have proof that it doesn't work....
  • Something Special: Like what exactly?
  • Use the handbook: The YT Handbook isn't designed towards gamers. Its designed towards V-Loggers.
  • LiveStream: I hate LiveStreaming. Lack proper equipment to do so and the software sucks.
  • Keep Doing what you're doing:  Well what I'm doing isn't working so.
  • Play XXXX Game: Viewers don't really care and its impossible for me to keep up with the latest trend.

You might say that I'm just beating myself up and not even trying. But I don't know what to do anymore. I'm not as lucky. I feel my efforts are wasted. And I'm virtually alone in all of this. I'm sorry.

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax - Actually Tough For Me to get behind this one

This fighting game that has once again been out for quite awhile in Japan is another immediately dying fighter. Why? Well first off this game was out in Japan for quite awhile. At least a year. It had some playtime in the arcades then people moved on. Then it gained a Japanese console release. Much later on, this game finally see's what they call an international release.

Well now that's it's here. What ended up being announced not soon before this game's official release. This game got a sequel. Yep just like Blazblue, Arcana Heart, Guilty Gear, etc. These games ended up with a sequel/expansion in very little time. This apparently pissed off some consumers due to having bought the game at full price already only to find out that sequel is announced, thus wasting there money. Other players simply moved on to prepare for the next game either by paying that one in the arcades or just playing a completely different game altogether.

So this game is already in the dying category and to be honest this is a game that only appeals to a specific audience. I'd say this is an anime based fighter but my definition of an anime or Anime-based fighter is different from others.

My Definition of an Anime Fighter/Anime-Based Fighting Game
If a person was to say that an anime fighting game was basically any fighter from Japan. Well then that pretty much alienates 95% of fighters everywhere. There's not too many we can name that come from the US (this also makes silly arguments about which country makes better games a moot point).  What some people (not everyone) call an anime fighter is games that have characters that look like they belong in an anime with crazy moves that have a ton of animation along with some convuluted story plot. Well if that's the case then isn't that EVERY fighting game? Look at Street Fighter, Look at Mortal Kombat, take a look at Guilty Gear. All of these games fill that criteria rather perfectly. After all I don't see some dude in a silly outfit throwing ice and freezing people everywhere.  Guilty Gear's attacks are animated to the extent of being its only movie. Street Fighter's story is so confusing and convuluted pretty much nothing really happens. How many times has M.Bison (otherwise known as Vega) came back after being defeated? Has Ryu given in to the dark power or what?  These games fit the mold of an anime fighter pretty well.

Now my definition of an anime fighter goes something like this. The game is actually based off an anime. Containing characters from that anime and the moves are pretty much the signature attacks to represent that character in that very anime in some way. As an extra tidbit these games can be a bit unbalanced as certain characters are far more powerful than others due to the anime's plot. And there's certain moves that can be used pretty easily to generally gaurantee a win. Its also known that the Anime came first. Does that make sense? If it doesn't then just ignore this part cause I'm moving on to the actual game.

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, man that's a mouthfull. Is pretty much an anime fighting game mash-up. Sega also had a part in creating this game along with the company French Bread, which is well known for Melty Blood and the recent Under Night In-Birth.  This game uses various anime characters from Dengeki Bunko which a company that produced manga and various anime. Sword Art Online, Accel World, Durara, etc.  There's 2 or maybe I should say 4 characters that are from Sega being Akira, Selvaria, and 2 assist characters Pai and Alicia. If you don't know where they're from its more or less Sega's not too well known games Virtua Fighter and Valkyria Chronicles. They're not exactly well known cause when you say Sega you generally think of Sonic, Bayonetta, etc.

Well as for me. I barely know any of the characters aside from the 2...4 Sega ones. I've watched 1 1/2 episodes of Durara and about 15 minutes total of Sword Art Online (that's in the span of 2 episodes of 2 completely different seasons).  So I don't know these characters that well goes without saying. I've heard of Accel World by name but I'm likely thinking of a completely different anime when I say that I think of some Rabbit dude with a Red Vest. So yeah my anime knowledge at least of this current era is minimal to none at all.  I also have to say that one of main reasons I barely know of these anime's is one they come on at the absolute worst possible time (I know I can just Youtube, google whatever to see em).  Another is that the popular anime's oversaturate televisions everywhere. You know the ones.

But I don't have to know the characters to know the game right? Besides games like these to me seem to be more about getting these animes/characters known right? In all honesty the characters don't exactly appeal to me too much. They don't look too silly or extreme just not exactly appealing. I'm also bothered by the character chat portraits somewhat. Some of these characters look like they just want to die. And I'm not just talking about when they're sad or hurt either. Rentaro for example looks like some people I see early morning or late afternoon trying to get some rest before having to go to work. Seriously how bad was your day at work?

Gameplay

Ok this is what's important to me. Well what can I say. French Bread does know a bit how to appeal to me in a fighting game. Simplistic controls not insanely complicated commands. But the system is deep enough to actually show its not a button mash fest. I swear some fightings are one one extreme or the other in this category. Some are way too simplistic and end up just mash one button to win. Others have insanely complicated moves that only the chosen few are able to perform.  There are some games that have what appears to be simplified moves but in reality its insanely hard to perform...that's just the game being a dick.

I'd talk more on the controls but because of the controller I'm forced to use I don't wanna give too much of my opinion on this. Let me explain. I use a specific controller for fighting games and certain other games. I use what's called the "Stormchaser Gamepad". You might end up saying something like, "But Brad_Ry that controller has programmable buttons you're obviously cheating in your fighting games." Hate to tell you but it doesn't work that way. I actually did try to program buttons before for fighting games. But I find that my inputs are much slower if I program a button. Also whatever I programmed into it doesn't neccessarily come out correctly if at all. I didn't buy this controller for that. I originally got it for the rumble feature cause this used 2 rumble motors instead of one. But later I found that was destroying my hands than giving me good force feedback. I got it for the comfort of the analog sticks and the D-Pad.

Most D-Pad's suck for fighting games its almost like fighting games deliberately made there command list the way they did so you would go out and buy an arcade stick...I don't really like Arcade Sticks. I feel like I'm much slower and today's sticks seem to use parts I don't like. Like this stupid little ball thing and the octagon gate. Also today's are way too expensive.  Anyway this D-Pad is comforatble. My fingers are scratching along edges of each direction. I actually feel like I'm inputing a move. Even the analog sticks are great. As a bonus you can play non Analog-Function games with an Analog stick. I love this gamepad...but sadly after well over 12 years mine has had enough. Due to years of wear and tear like all gamepads things start to breakdown.  I've been trying to find a replacement but since this is an old controller its very rare to come across. I thought I was buying one from Amazon new. But instead I was sent a completely different one that was a total piece of crap. I complained to the seller about it. But he hid behind Amazon and said that if I send back the controller my money will be refunded. However the amount I spend shipping will not be reimbursed.  So yeah I've been hunting down this gamepad for quite awhile but unable to find a working one. I'd check game stores but most game stores just literally garbage there old stuff or they take it home and keep it for thereselves. What a waste.....So until I get a replacement My time in fighting games will be limited.

What separates this game is its combat system. At first when you play this game it feels like the combat is stale and there's no much to it. Like playing Street Fighter 2 for the first time back in the old days. But then after you call an assist or use what's called your trump card. You're trump card is generally different for every character but once you use it it allows for longer combo strings to be made. That's assuming you know what you're doing. That combined with assist allows for some crazy stuff to happen. I have yet to see 100% combo or an infinite which I am thankful for cause that means players actually have a chance at well "playing the game" and the game doesn't instantly transform into only learn this character and this combo.  I swear too many fighting games do this and while its amazing to look at. It gets boring after awhile and pretty much means you just drop the controller and go make a sandwich.

What I favor most is the burst and assist system. Typically burst were on the lines of what Blazblue and Guilty Gear could do with. Either tell the opponent to get off me. Or use it to be fancy in a combo. Well this game does that and a lot more. There's 3 kinds of burst. The first one is an escape burst which gets the opponent off you. Its downside is generally obvious to most people. It takes forever to recharge, if its read it can be blocked and you're pretty much screwed. You know that common stuff. The 2nd is a combo burst. Which when you use it during one of your combos, the opponent is knocked away from you but in a way that allows you continue your combo. Also you gain meter. The 3rd one is a Power Up Burst. Which is exactly as it sounds. If you just use it for no reason whatsoever its not a bad thing. Instead you get a temporary damage boost to your attacks.
Then you have assist. Honestly there's A lot of assist characters but if you're familiar with fighting games you know what they do. They assist you by either attacking the opponent. Defending you against attacks. Or assist you by giving you meter. Every character has a different assist and its up to you to pick which one works for you. From what I've seen in my opinion there's no OP godlike assist that everyone has to use. No this isn't like Marvel vs Capcom where there's only 3 to 5 specific characters you use as assist cause everyone else is apparently useless. You find out which one you like and works best for you. Its like they want you to have fun and let you do what you want.
(Side note: I'm pretty sure someone will say otherwise by pointing me to some tier list that may or may not be official. But I don't care. I'm sticking to my point.)

So now on to the single player.  There's Arcade Story Mode, an extended story mode that apparently has more stages and deeper storyline. I've yet to play this. Your standard vs. mode. Online Play, Score attack and Time Attack. Then you have Customize which is really just buying stuff with points you earned to make yourself an online card and preset character colors. This already goes beyond the basic barebones of what most fighters have these days. I'm actually glad there's no silly Tutorial mode or a Challenge Mode which I like to rename "Do this combo" mode. Those modes are annoying. Anyway most fighters these days just have the basic bare minimum to be called a fighting game.

Basic Bare Bones Fighting Game Options
Arcade (even that can be removed sometimes)
Vs.
Training
Online Play
Options

There's a lot of fighting games out there that just only have this. Then there's some that will include stuff like Tutorial, and Do This Combo.  I know the aspect of fighting games is to play against other people. But I am not big on socializing 24/7. When I'm around people it gets hard to focus on what I'm doing, I have to make sure not to unneccessarily bite someone's head off. Not turn into a beast on at the sight of a full moon.

The point is that fighting games need a lot more these days instead of just the basics. At least for me. Most people only care about whether or not the game will be in a tournament and getting in as much practice as humanly possible before the tournament happens. But I'm not that guy. I just want to play the game and enjoy myself.

Okay I'm going on a tangent agent I better stop before I kill the rest of my imaginary audience.
I need to mention the story.  Ok well do to the arcade being smashed in with the story Arcade mode takes quite a bit of time to finish. I don't really like when games do this. Just make a Story Mode that doesn't suck sheesh.  Every story is pretty much the same thing. Some evil entity is destroying worlds ironically anime worlds and now its set its sights on the world of Sega. So this girl transports whatever character you're playing as over to that world to try and save it. Then as you progress onward the story starts talking about Dreams, hope, and despair. The guy goes on and on about how because you have a dream you're making someone else feel despair to try and make you feel bad. Its somehow my fault that someone else is feeling bad cause I have a dream.  Then in classic anime cliche fashion the girl that transported you over gives you a confidence boosting speech about how its not wrong to have hope.  The character you're playing as breaks the 4th wall and says he/she needs your help to defeat this guy and then final boss. The game ends on a happy note. And everyone lived happily ever after.  Yeah the story is common. Nothing really special. But its a fighting you don't need some insanely deep storyline.

Music and sound

The music in this game is kinda a mixed bag for me. There's some songs I like. And some I don't. What I will say that this is one of best character select theme's I've heard in a long time.  Also a quirk I like is that if its the final round of a match the music changes to the title theme. And the title theme isn't annoying. Its also not full specific character vs themes like other fighting game. That's not to say I don't like that. I just get annoyed when I want to hear a certain character theme but instead I hear something completely different cause of the character I'm playing.
Sound effects aren't annoying either. And they actually help. A lot of sound effects in games are either drowned out by the music or somehow muted for whatever reason making it a bit harder to play fighting games in some situations. So I'm glad the sound effects are great in this game.

Online Play 11/1/2015

Well I jumped online to see what its like. Usually games like these are pretty decent with netcode. Well I was half right.

First off. There's no one playing ranked matches...I sat in the search room for at least 2 minutes. Nothing. So I jumped into player matches.  Well its apparently too late to jump into the community for this one. I got kicked from rooms multiple times inbetween matches. But that's not what bothers me.

What bothers me is the input delay. There's no sign of lag and my claims of Input delay will likely fall on deaf ears. But there was a lot. I figure most of the players adjusted to the input delay while I was trying to. I couldn't do any of the combos I was doing offline. Moves came out late or never at all. I didn't know what to do but to play the slow character. I wasn't going to play the others for one I don't really like them. Another is I feel that victory with them is too easy. I probably should've just stuck with mashing A.

The etiquette of this online area. I feel its pretty much if you're not good then get out. You will get kicked for losing. You'll get kicked for the rank you have too. I saw these lightning bolts next to most of the rooms in different colors while one for me at the bottom screen was Red and marked I just want to have fun. Well that's true. Almost everyone else was something on the lines of skilled players only. But I honestly didn't find anyone truly exceptional unlike when I watched my friend's stream of this game. I was too busy getting kicked from rooms after one loss. I honestly didn't have time to adjust to online play since everyone playing pretty much left and all had different connections.

A 1 bar I pretty much get to do nothing but watch my opponent's assist and impact attacks always work. My grabs never came out. My supers came out at the wrong time. Any combos I had offline never showed up.

A 3 Bar connection was slightly better. But again I had no chance to adjust to the input delay. Like I said before I was either getting kicked or the connection levels changed. Eventually I just gave up trying to fight online.  Losing the way I did just honestly wasn't fun when I know my combos should come out but don't. But again. This is from my point of view. I can claim input delay all I want but whether someone believes me or not is up to that person.

Overall

I like this game...I'm not exactly fond of the characters. And the fact that this game is already dying out is a dissapointment. So I'm going to try and get as much playtime as possible before I end up having to send this back to gamefly.

Its decent but needs some serious polishing.

Nov. 1st Youtube Update: 2 Months to Go and Not Looking Good (rant)

Yeah. I don't really want to make a video on it either. I honestly have no idea how to go about my youtube channel anymore. Considering that my earnings from when I started out have now dropped to less than 50% of what I was making. I don't wanna bend over backwards, sell and arm and a leg, or sell my soul to the devil to improve my youtube channel either.  I can identify some issues but at the same time I have no solutions.

I don't do commentary

Like I've said before. I hate commentary. I don't feel comfortable doing it. And I only do commentary when I'm with someone I know or its incidental.  Also when I see the complaint of no commentary, I easily reference back to when I was doing commentary on a trial basis. The trial basis failed miserably needless to say. Therefore I see no need to do commentary.

Further on this point. When I'm on youtube I don't really want to watch gameplay videos where some dude is talking over them drowning out the game itself. There's very few people I can tolerate and even those people I only watch certain playthroughs they do. If I can't stand commentary then why should I give commentary? It makes no sense.

I don't want to drown out the music. Even if Youtube and other companies get pissed that they're music is in game I'm playing and they want more money for it. Music is one of the main reasons I enjoy most of my games. Voice Acting I don't care about. As long as you can read a script correctly I'm fine with it. Hell you don't even have to have voice acting. Go back to the old days with no voices. I'll put them in myself.

I Rarely if at All Stream

I've grown to hate livestreams. Instead of watching gameplay I'm listening to 1 or more people talk about random crap. Even more it feels like the streamer is bending over backwards to appeal to the viewers.  It doesn't help that I read someone's interview about Streaming and that guy stated that he had to increase the amount of time he streams to 12+ hours a day. I can't stream for 12 hours a day. There's no way I can keep the life I have despite how much it sucks and do this too. That's literally the job I left. I'm already borderline suicidal to begin with I can't just add more stress to my life.

 (source: http://www.psmag.com/books-and-culture/the-business-of-playing-video-games)

I know it sounds like an excuse. But here's some other points about me and livestreaming. When I stream I barely get anything done. This is cause I'm too busy managing my TwitchTV channel, The Livestreaming program, the viewers, and then the game all at once. The progress I make when I'm not streaming, not being bothered by others online is roughly 10 times greater than when I stream. On a good day I say 20 times.

The main concept that those that encourage livestreaming now keep saying. "If you livestream you're able to interact with your viewers a lot more and easier."  I can't wrap my head around this for many reasons. Some reasons that stand out. It seems the streamer doesn't care for his/her viewers. I say this cause watching livestreams especially now first priority is given to those that subscribe or really I should say Give that person money. I've already talked about a few aspects on that. The 2nd is there's a great percentage of people that just get absolutely ignored. Either cause they didn't pay or cause there's well over 50 - 1,000 people all chatting at once. Its impossible in this type of setting to notice everyone.  I also find that 70% of the time. The chats aren't really talking about the game being streamed or what's even on the stream to begin with. Its either "Notice Me Sempai" (where a user is begging to be noticed by someone so great.) Or its some controversial debate going on about a random subject. This bothers me a lot. In my case I feel like my audience attention is not towards the game, like they're bored and waiting on something to happen.

Video Quality

I really hate this one. I hate this one a lot. Personally I only care about the video as long as I can make out what's going on. The quality could be 144p or whatever. As long as I can make it out I'm fine. But others demand that all videos are in HD. Some even to the extremes of 1440p - 4000p with 60fps (Frames Per Second).  I feel people are spoiled by this. I can barely get an HD Video going without having to wait on buffering in the middle of it. Its not a matter of what internet or PC I have either. I just don't want to wait on a damn video to load.   I honestly don't care about quality. When it comes to quality especially from a game. My own imagination and pretty much every art website in existence can make that picture look far better.

I'm also bothered by people that stress FPS (Frames Per Second).  Honestly it sounds arrogant when they talk about it. I can't see the difference between frames per second. If you're to push me I would say I can only see the difference in fps on a an old 2D Sonic Game and that's only if he's doing a spin dash or jumping.  I think it frustrates me the most when I hear people say things like, "I can see Frames." "This game isn't 60fps its 59." "This is 48fps."  Ugh...every time I hear someone say that I think that person should be pretty much godlike especially in videogames. Cause that sounds to me like they're saying, "I can see your moves like they're in slow-motion."

I only provide the highest quality I can give possible without destroying the video any further. I don't want to force the game I recorded to suddenly go from 360p to suddenly 1080p.  It doesn't look any better in fact it looks worse. That's like taking an icon that's only 100 x 100 pixels and blowing it up to fit 1444 x 1080 picture.  Sure it might look ok sometimes cause the program is doing everything it can to fix it by guessing where extra pixels should go.  But in the end it looks like crap.  Try scanning an image you drew at the lowest DPI setting then blow it up to fit the size of your monitor. Anyway, my TV says the quality of whatever game I'm playing. If it says 480 then the video its staying 480.

I'm Not Playing the Latest and Greatest (Most Anticipated Game)

This is next to impossible to do. For one most people are interested in games I don't like. There's a lot of games especially for current gen that I just don't like and want nothing to do with. Others in this generation is a hit or miss in terms of whether or not I truly enjoy it. Not only that but buying the console or game itself is hard. The last console I got on the same year it came out was the Wii...and for 2 - 3 years the only game I had for it was Wii Sports. Every other console I got much later in its lifespan. That's cause they're way too expensive. But more importantly there's hardly any games I want for each console. Xbox One there's only 1 game I want and it cost only 10 bucks maybe cheaper. PS4 there's only 2 and they're not out yet. Wii U, there's games I want but at the same time I don't want them. That's cause in my mind I'll own them play them once and that's it I'm bored with the game along with the fact that these games are heavily reliant on online play. Which I don't really like.

Another reason and I keep stating only to be shut up and scolded about. I don't play M Rated games.  There isn't many games I like in that category anyway.  But I made a promise to a dear friend and I intend to keep it. I can count on both my hands the number of M Rated Games I've played. Only 2 of them I actually liked. The rest are totally forgettable. So I never really liked M Rated games to begin with. You might argue crap like how I'm a hypocrite, I'm an idiot, I don't deserve to play games, I'm some supporter of whatever stupid group. But I honestly don't care.  I've seen blood and gore in real life at my old job. I don't want to be reminded of that when I'm playing a game. I could try and reason that not all M rated games are bad. But then I would be going back on my word and not only that I would end up digging into games that are much worse. I need to get off this subject.

Anyway there's some games I just want nothing to do with and well cause I'm not playing it no one's interested.

Well that's about all the reasons I can think of. I need to move on from this.

Well there isn't really any game coming out that I'm looking forward to. Most of them I'm going through Gamefly to get. Others I'm still trying to get my hands on. Really if anything I would ask from the viewers is to just post a comment and not be rude about it or complaining some crap reasoning like I upload too many videos. They're all in a playlist. You can hit the pause the button. You can come back to it later. I mean unless you're about to die. I don't see a reason to complain. You can save playlists as your own. I'm honestly considering just releasing all my videos at once and putting them up as soon as I get them recorded. But we'll see. Anyway the ultimatum I set for myself is still there. I've already started preparing for the worst cause I know there's no such thing as an absolute. Anyway see you guys later.

Champions Online - Well Why Not

Yeah its still a work in progress.

Well I was interested in this game for quite awhile. Just never got around to trying it. So why not.

It took forever to install and update. I think I waited at least 45 minutes before I could finally play the game.

So starting the game...whoops it crashed.  -_-  Well I bet one reason is that PlayClaw 5 didn't agree with the game until I white listed it.

Okay Start the game.  Lots of loading. Well registration was easy. I thought I was gonna have to do one of those please confirm by clicking the link in this e-mail thing. But not it went really fast.

Ok now on to character creation.  Oh god this is probably my worst area in games cause I always spend forever when it comes to making a character.  I can spend 3 hours just trying to pick a name sometimes.

Now onto the reason why I even had some slight interest in this game in the first place. I looked this up on Steam and saw that some of the screenshots well the bulk of them had this badass shark looking dude as a character. I said wow that's pretty cool. Most games don't even have choices like that for character creation. You might get a Wolf, a dog, some alien that looks well meh, and the rest being humans. But A shark?! I don't think I've ever seen a game where a Shark possible in character creation. Heck DC Online or whatever its called doesn't even go that far. Everything there looks well human. Even if you can have a cat head. Its more like Catwoman.

As a side point. This is actually what turned me off from playing Final Fantasy XIV. I was looking up all the available races in the game and said wow these guys look really cool. I would love to be one of those. But then as I explored the Wiki even deeper I found out that all the races I want to be, are NPC's or enemies only. I honestly wanna say that's racist. But I bet some Final Fantasy XIV expert would appear out of no where and list endless reasons as to why they're NPCs and the rest are superior.  This isn't to say that I only like beast type classes in MMO's or whatever. I mean I'll gladly play as human character. I did in Diablo III. In Phantasy Star Online I was a CASTS which is a robot dude. Dungeon Fighter Online I played as the gunner dude. This isn't about, "oh well he's a furry and he wants to play a furry character." No! I just want my character to look badass.and not some wimpy kid that can beat up guys 20 times his size. I think its rather dumb that they make races like these in games but then you find that you can't even play as them usually for dumb reasons like, "Oh well they're evil and don't like the rest of the races so they're enemies." It really makes no sense to me and I wish these races were playable. That way we can have variety.

Character Creation

Wow another Tirade. Moving on.  Like I was saying this character creation wow'd me. I wasn't expecting something like GMoD or Second Life. But I didn't think they would go this far.  It took me a bit to figure out how the character creation worked. But then I discovered how to find the rest of the parts.  One thing I will point out is that I found it weird that parts that are apparently exclusive I couldn't pick yet it kept saying that I already own the associated pack with it. So I guess that's an oversight or something.

Moving on the character mascot and well my furry self is a mole so lets put him into the game.  Unfortunately there isn't a mole head design available. So I had to pick the next closest thing in terms of head shape. Which was a rat. Well the way I draw my character is more like a rat anyway so its acceptable. What sucked was I couldn't really change the eye color. I couldn't give him glasses. But I did give him a cool looking trenchcoat and have spikes growing out of his arms. It does bother me that I couldn't could the entire head blue and I could easily notice the neckline there's a big hint of him being human and just wearing a mask. Well I can't have that. He's supposed to be a mole. Not a human dressed like one. Lets cover this up with a bandanna. I wish I could've had a long scarf but hey I'm already happy with the choices there is.  I can even add the tail. Yes moles have tails I've checked!

Hmmm...class...Well there's quite a few. Honestly I thought of a lot of powers that would be cool to have. Like one being I have a backpack that can store many items despite its size and that I specialize in using bombs that I kick at my enemies. Another where I pretty much copy Chaos from Under Night In-Birth by having a grimoire and using a creature of magic to attack my enemies but not being a pushover myself.  Or just having blades like Gray from Atelier Iris 2 being a close range combat specialist.

I had a bunch in mind. But reading through all of the available ones I remembered that this game has PvP and Co-Op quest. So I better pick super power I can use and not get my but kicked. Not to mention that these powers were pretty much generic. So I went with being an Archery expert. There's very few heroes....characters I know that actually go out there with a bow and have good fighting skills. Most are either super rich or geniuses like Batman and IronMan. Or they're so powerful that it doesn't make any sense like Superman.  Then you have the guys that are inbetween. And last you have guys that are badass but get little recognition unless they manage to make it in a big time game. Even then you rarely see them in the spotlight.

Ok give a bit of a beast pose. Well not like that cause then I just look like a generic RPG enemy. Alright now lets get started.

Music

Well the music is hit and miss for me. I mean its pretty epic to hear but I'm reminded of the time I played Starcraft. The entire soundtrack just loops. So there really isn't a song to fit a situation.  The voices are cool too.  I don't think my character has a voice which well should stay that way cause the way I want my character to sound will be rather nitpicky.

On thing did stick out and bug me. Eventually the music just got silent. At least up till the point I died. But it did it more than once. What's up with that? I may have to make my own playlist and have it play in the background.

Gameplay

Ok...so control scheme sorta weird oh wait I can use a controller? Sweet. I don't even really have to set the buttons. Its kinda hard to read the buttons though but I do need a better monitor. Ok this training simulation stage is rather long. But things do make sense.  Talk to a random guy complete his/her request kill enemies along the way. Pretty simple. This feels a lot like League of Legends but without the horrible community. Well I will say that playing this with a pad I do find it annoying that there's still some things I have to click. And since there's too many moves and its obvious that the controller is not gonna fit every single move to a button. But I do appreciate the auto-targeting. The thing I'm not really fond of is that there isn't much of a point to me running away or attempting to dodge. Regardless of how much I strafe or run away I'm still a magnet to attacks. Luckily this game is reasonable in terms of damage. Now if only I could master the art of chatting and using a pad.

Well almost done with the quest but wait there's one quest I didn't finish let me finish that first...nope...My recorder decided to cut out on me which made the entire game crash. Why did that happen? Well Play Claw 5 may record in good quality but it eats up a ton of hard disk space. The higher quality the game the shorter time I get to record.  Damn I wanted to show some gameplay too but maybe next time. Hopefully I'll figure out how to make my character look better too. I'm actually liking this game. I was debating between this or world of warcraft but I don't wanna pay a subscription for a game I won't play all the time the limited free option I feel its gonna cut the free play when I get to the point where the game is actually good.

Mighty Gunvolt - A Time-Wasting 8-Bit Side Game

Before I get into this. I don't know what's going with Inafune and why everyone's so pissed and pratically boycotting the guy and his games. I heard its something to do with his many projects and wanting money for it. But honestly I don't care. I just want to play the games. What happens behind the scenes isn't any of my business. I like games or really I like to play the games. How its made that's there decision. If my opinions actually affect the outcome of a game, well that's not my problem. Ultimately its the creators decision as to what they want to do with the game. Not mine.

Anyway for those that are left. Mighty Gunvolt. A side game that came with Azure Striker Gunvolt. Its basically Gunvolt in 8-Bit style. The story is pretty much Azure Striker Gunvolt except the ending is different. And apparently this never happened. Basically if you played Classic Megaman you should feel right at home with this.

Gameplay

You run through 9 stages (4 DLC) designed after either the stages of Azure Striker Gunvolt or Gal Gun. I think there's one that's designed after Mighty No.9 But I never played the game so no comment. The stages are short and simple and generally too easy. The enemies are more annoying than hard to deal with. Its the bosses that piss me off though. Some are pathetic others are insanely annoying to deal with:

  • Elise: They're busy throwing kunai at you that turn into snakes when they hit the ground. Its kind of easy to dodge but doing that while trying to shoot them is a pain. To make it worse they'll do some sort of team attack (1 of 3) that's pretty hard to dodge.

  • I don't know this Red Dude's name. But he's obviously from Mighty No.9. I hate this guy. He has no pattern. He just charges at you at high speeds. Predicting him is bad cause one bad prediction means you're gonna get hit and he's gonna stay in your face. And unlike old 8-Bit games and most other platformers your invincibility frames after you take damage don't last long.

  • Another Mighty No.9 Boss This dude's on fire. But he loves to troll you with his moves. He'll either dash across the screen or dash then jump up and do a ground pound or just run close to you then stop and make a spread wave attack. I can't tell at all if he'll choose to do the ground pound or run at me. To make matters worse my both sides of the arena are on fire. So you have less space to move.

  • I don't know what this thing is called but its obviously from Gal Gun. This guy pretty much decides whether or not you can damage him. He'll either put his tentacles out or make 2 minions travel up the walls to annoy some girl and make her scream HELP! and the letters hurt you. Aside from that another reason I hate this guy is cause sometimes the tentacles just barely in reach of my attacks. Cause you gotta shoot the tips of them. Then It gets worse cause his weakspot is only exposed for a few seconds.

Characters

Anyway you use whatever of the 3 characters you picked to run through the levels. Each have an advantage and disadvantage. Luckily all the stages are made so that each character can make it through without too much effort.

  • Gunvolt: He can double jump and if you hold down the shoot button you shoot out this line of electricity that does a lot of damage. It takes quite a bit to come out but it hurts like hell. Honestly I say he's the most broken of the 3.

  • Beck: He can slide. And his charge shot is a dash. Think Megaman X4 X with his giga attack except that it sucks. His charge shot is pretty much worthless. If it doesn't kill an enemy Beck will bounce off them and usually he'll end up getting shot cause of it. His slide is sorta useful but honestly he's the worst of the 3 characters. And this is supposed to help promote Mighty  No. 9. Its not really a good job in doing so.

  • Ekoro: Her jump is a hover. Like Princess Peach's hover jump. And her charge shot when she defeats an enemy (most of them) after they hit with the charge shot. The enemy "befriends her" Basically it acts like one of those SHUMP helper ships and constantly fires. But it can also take damage and die. If you use the charge shot again. You can send the enemy you befriended at another enemy. Really Befriend them? More like Entice them to do your bidding. Seriously how many female characters/bosses had this sort of ability. I bet she flashed the enemy and they were charmed by her looks.  Its a common Game trope just rarely available for the player.
I honestly enjoy playing this as Gunvolt since one he's rather broken and 2 I don't have to stress too much about fighting bosses. The other 2 I more or less don't care for.  The score system for awhile I didn't even notice it. Its in the corner of the screen. Basically the more items you collect the higher your score multiplier is. However if you take too long and you're not killing enemies or picking up items then the multiplier drops back to x1.00 And if you take way too long or you're just constantly dying. The multiplier drops to 0.  Kind of a dick move there.

Well the game isn't exactly worth me replaying it to get a high score in. I enjoy it but I this is something I don't wanna try to make a high score in.

Music

Well the Music is just an 8-Bit Version of various Gunvolt and GalGun stages. Very well done too. Sound effects are nice. The music and sound effects do nothing to annoy me in this game. And that's a plus.

Looks

Its 8-Bit what more can I say? The stages are rather short but they do look good. I generally dislike one of the stages cause of the switches I have to hit. There's some that are in positions that I have to take damage from in order to activate them. Other than that I'm fine with it.

Well there is one thing I have to bring up. When they made this game 8-Bit they truly went all the way. Remember back in the old days games would make spelling errors?  Well this game makes spelling and grammar errors on purpose. I'm told by others that its supposed to bring nostalgia to players. But really I find it annoying. I thought reading the bible was annoying cause the way its written there grammer was obviously completely different from today's but watching a modern game (Despite it being 8-Bit) make these mistakes is just annoying. And I honestly don't care too much about this kind of thing cause I see mistakes all the time when I'm chatting with people or reading comments. My mind just auto-corrects it as I read. Only when the mistakes are just so bad that even I can't understand it is when I'll say something.  I guess they were trying to be cute with this. But I caught your mistakes. And I'm pretty sure one of my friends will say something about it cause his name is Ben and they meant to say Been.

!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!

Look these 2 paragraphs over and see the mistakes.

Overall

Well this game is what it is. A time-waster. If you got 30 minutes to an hour to waste then play this game. If you like Megaman then play this game.  Just don't expect too much from it cause this was free if you bought Azure Striker Gunvolt before a specific date. And its cheap to buy online too. Also its pretty damn short.  I wouldn't be surprised if this made it as a mobile game in the future.

I'm Still Around, But Not Really, Don't Want To Be Either...

Yeah I'm in a depressed mood again. I can blame no one but myself for it. Yesterday (from when I'm writing this) I said some things to people that made them feel awkward and rather pissed off at me. Generally from answering a question that was asked. At first I kept telling myself that they shouldn't have asked in the first place if they weren't ready for the answer. But eventually that stopped working.  I looked back at how many times this has happened on other occasions and its pretty often.

I don't think I need to be around people. For the most part it always seems to happen when I try to be myself or give an honest answer. Considering my track record and many articles I've read. I'm generally the type of person no one really wants around. Or they want me to be around just so I can be the one to take punches. Really I think no one likes me to show the real me. I admit that there's things I don't like about myself and I've tried to change that. But then there's parts that no one likes and can never belong. Fitting in is hard. I'm not looking to fit in but I don't want to be hated and hurt either.

I guess that's the reason why I don't like being around people. Aside from the obvious. My views although different are never respected and always questioned or really they're always shunned. This along with family issues really puts me in a bad position. No one wants me to be myself. They want someone else.

Well I guess I should get to the point rather than complaining. The point I'm making. I'm not really gonna be around to talk to/play online/whatever. I'll still be here but I don't want to interact with people as much as I can help it. I'm tired of getting hurt. And I'm tired of dealing with people. I need to be alone. This is something no medication can fix. I have to fix it myself.

Outrun 2019 - Here's Actual Nostalgia

Well what could I say about this game? Outrun 2019 is an arcade racing game that's obviously a spin-off/sequel of the famous Outrun. The goal is to race around the world in your awesome car and reach the goal in the time limit. Just like many other Arcade racing games of its time. I came across this game as a kid by via rental. Back when video rental stores were actually worth something. I didn't really play too many games back then either. No where near as much as I play now. But I guess when you live at the corner of a street and the nearest house is behind a bunch of trees where you can't even see the house. You generally have no one to play with.  So Video Rental stores were a godsend.

Now what makes this game awesome compared to the others? I mean pretty much every Arcade Racing game was literally the same as in a sense. Drive from point A to point B before time runs out. Every other car is a brick wall. If you hit something your car will go flying and land on its back. So what set this apart from the others.  I'll tell you. Better yet I'll show you

Give me a few seconds.

Ok a little more.
BAM! THERE YOU GO!

You're car is a Legit Batmobile knock-off. Not only that but a Batmobile knock-off that runs at a max speed of 682mph! (341 km/h (211.89 mph) on the Japanese version, 682 km/h (423.77 mph) on the European version -_- lame) Ok in terms of physics that's pretty much impossible or well not impossible but if I was driving this car in real life then I should be dead. Not only that but whatever my destination is I should've been there in minutes. Or really this car should be lifted off the ground. Yeah I can easily go "Back to the Future" and beyond with this car (bad joke). But remember this is a videogame. Well on the bright side no cop car would ever be able to catch me until I actually stop.

Well like pretty much every arcade racing game in existence there's always other cars on the road that hate how awesome your car is. And the major difference between your car and there's is obvious...unless you never played an arcade racer or a simulation racing game. There car is a ****ing moving brick wall with perfect handling and speed. While yours is an insanely fast moving empty soda can.

This has kinda been the standard for most racing games that aren't Kart Racers or certain other racing games (like Burnout). Even to this day this very thing exist. Although its mellowed out...SLIGHTLY. I always see this in Simulation racing games for no reason. Take Gran Turismo for instance. Its a simulation racing game yet my opponents are perfect drivers and there car is made of some otherworldly material cause they won't move on contact. But if they hit me or I hit them. I'm thrown way off course. There's very few instances where I'll actually be able to move the car slightly off course.  But they're still perfect drivers. I've had times where I pushed one off the track cause I didn't hit the brakes in time. I'm thrown off course and off the track. While the AI gets pushed off the track but easily gets back on the road like nothing happened. Why is this still a thing? And it hasn't really gotten any better. Oh simulation racers give simulated damages to your car but not to the AI. I'm getting off point we're talking about Arcade racers here not the other kinds. I'll tackle those someday later. So you're safe for now Sega GT!!!

Regardless of hitting these guys at max speed. They'll shrug it off like a bug hit there windshield while you'll go flying.
One of the cool things about this game is that sometimes if you happen to be driving at max speed and hit something sometimes instead of flying or spinning out you'll regain control of your car and only lose some speed. How generous. Another cool feature is there's actual shortcuts. If you're fast enough and skilled enough (doesn't take too much skill) you can skip most of the race by taking these shortcuts.

The hazards on this game like any other are annoying and frustrating to deal with. This game has high bridges where if you fall off you hear your car make this loud noise then crash. Bottomless pits, yeah bottomless pits. Make sense of that. But the worst hazard I have to say is in the last 2 stages. There's one area where you're literally stuck on a one lane road and there's signs covering the other 2. You have to drive perfectly or pretty much quit the game cause its easy to hit those signs. Did I mention your car is a high speed tin-can? Yeah well considering car physics the one that always stuck in every game is the faster you go the further you skid in a turn. There's a lot of turns where if you don't hit the brakes at least once you're flying ending of story. It hasn't been this bad for me since Pole Position although that game is far more unforgiving than this one.

Music

I have to talk about the music. Oh my god I love this soundtrack. Even today this soundtrack is great. I wonder if anyone actually took these songs and remastered them to sound like today's instruments? Since these are in MIDI format cause that's how most cartridge games got the music in. I could listen to this all day despite there being so few tracks. Even the game over theme is great. But at the same time I could say that most Sega Genesis games had great soundtracks and honestly they should be remastered and brought back to today's time. Most music of today is either forgettable or has tons of vocals behind it. I don't mind vocals but I like non-vocal music better.

After looking up on Wiki I found out this game was ported to a Plug N' Play system called Play TV Legends Outrun 2019.  You know those old games that posed as game consoles but weren't actually consoles. They generally played only 1 or 2 games and sold for about 20 - 30 bucks. Yeah those. But it is notable that this one used a steering wheel as a controller as opposed to a basic Genesis controller.

So we're at the end of this well...nostalgia playthrough. There's not much else to say. I still love this game. I doubt we'll ever see cars like this in 4 years but hey no one ever really thought about the year 20XX would turn out.  It might still happen. If it does. I want a car like this one. It would probably be on sale then in about 2 weeks to a month ever car of this model would go on recall cause of some broken safety feature or the fact that it goes way too fast. It would be awesome to have a car like this.  Hell I'd be happy to have a model car like this. Anyway this game deserves to be played a lot more. It deserves to be on a shop channel. I miss racing games like these.

I want a car like this. Or at least a model car of this.

Skylanders Superchargers: Review

Price: Starter Packs = $40 - $100 bucks (varies on version)

After 4 games I want to say that Activision corrected most of there mistakes of the past. The 5th installment, SuperChargers does a lot of things right and adds a few new problems that aren't that big a deal but does hurt the game's lifespan.

Story:

Okay I'm still wondering how Kaos got out of the Traptanium Crystal in the last game. Not to mention the other villains I have ideas but I'm unable to confirm. Apparently this is all explained in the side comics and stories that you can buy or download by searching the internet. But yeah he's at it again just like old times. What surprised me is that the minute I start the game "shit hit the fan" has already happened. Skylands is being utterly destroyed, you get booted from Skylands by Kaos denying access to your portal. Everyone's been captured. Yeah I'd say shit hit the fan. But honestly seeing the story I can already see its the classic, "Evil guy is messing with forces he has no idea how to control" scenario.

From the looks of things it seems every NPC makes an appearance and does something significant this time round other than just standing around and begging you to help them with some random tedious task all the time (Still no sign of Tessa and Wheellock from Swap Force). The story also seems to go at a much faster pace than before. In the old games each chapter was insanely long especially if you did every side quest available in it.

Dialogue isn't too bad. You still get annoyed by either Eon or now that mole character telling you that you can't enter a specific area without a specific skylander.

Gameplay:

I'm kinda a 70/30 here. The main story is rather fast paced compared to before. But at the same time it feels like there's a lot more to do without being hindered by an enormous paywall. The paywall is still there with needing more figures but you don't have to buy every last one in order to get the full experience. Depending on the version you bought you only need about 2 or 4 different toys to do all the main quest.

Villians no longer play a role in this game. Instead whatever villian you have inside your trap crystal you'll get that character's skystone card. You also use the trap as an alternate means of attack during the vehicle portions of the game. I suspect villians no longer being a thing cause of unknown story plot and the fact that they were BROKEN beyond all belief and virtually were the entire game.

All skylanders still work on the game. The level cap is still at 20. I did have to take ownership of all my skylanders again manually so that was a chore. Your magic items are pretty much cosmetic trinkets you can decorate the hub world with now. They no longer serve the purpose of assisting you during gameplay. Some will drop random amounts of money, exp, or hats for you to use. Others are literally there to look pretty.

I only own the land vehicle for this game at the point of me writing this so I can't say much about it. But I do love the driving portions. Customizing your vehicle for whatever situation. The controls feel just like your average kart racer. The combat doesn't seem to throw anything insanely cheap at me yet. I remember the previous games having really cheap bosses that used "Bullet Hell" for most of there attacks. The game did add falling off the stage as a method to damage you however. Nothing in the game seems to drag on forever like the previous ones. I still find there's too few enemies in sections. It also seems like the battle arena is gone which is a dissapointment.

I'd love to talk about online play except I can't seem to find anyone playing this game online. I have a feeling people bought the Wii U version.

The Racing. Well from what I've played. Its pure rubber band AI.  Its borderline MarioKart Wii with difficulty. There's items that apparently I can't even use but the AI can. Also have to deal with the fact that I have no way to defend myself from an attacker from behind. It may be the car I'm using. But I pretty much just have to take it or somehow gain a burst of speed to avoid other races from shooting me from behind. If I could defend myself I would be able to stay at the front of the pack a lot easier. But expect to get "Welcomed to Mario Kart" on the 3rd lap at that last stretch.  Also the paywall rears its ugly head here. By default you only have 2 tracks unlocked. You need a Sea and Sky vehicle to unlock at least 4 more. Then you need to buy what's called a trophy in order to unlock the other tracks and mirror mode.

Music:

The music is forgettable. Heck sometimes I didn't even hear the music. At first when you hear the music its not all bad but later you forget the music is even there and likely drown it out with something else.

The voice acting is still as good as it always was. And this is coming from someone that doesn't care for voice acting. I am somewhat annoyed when I play as Spit Fire and use his dash attack. Or during races. He'll keep going "Woohoo!" Its not as cute as back in the old days of Mario Kart 64 when you mashed turbo with Toad.

Visual:

For those looking for info on this game. I'm not sure if game runs at the highly esteemed 60fps. Youtube keeps screwing with my uploads for this game. PS3 version goes to 720p.

I like the level designs. Its not too big and its not too small. I particulary like the Cloud Breather Dragon as they called it. He actually felt pretty cool to see for the few minutes that he's on screen.

Character designs. Well looking at the figures I have to say that the figures look rather derpy compared to either there previous versions or in-game looks.  I do hate how the game insults me going cheap and downloading the game. The game gives you a built in skylander and vehicle except the color is rather bland. This is probably Activision saying I should've bought the starter pack instead of being cheap. But times are tough I was lucky enough to buy this for 50 bucks. In all honesty for this round of characters there's not too many that stick out and attract me in terms of looks. Some of the vehicles are cool. But considering I only need 1 of each. Unless I luck into some money I won't be buying too many.

The Good and Great:

Paywall is lowered

I mentioned this before. But you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get the full experience of the game. You also don't require to buy another huge starter pack. So that's less stuff to eat up space in your room.

For most consoles instead of buying the starter pack. You can just download the game saving yourself 20 bucks. You get a Skylander and a vehicle built in (these don't count towards your collection however).  You can use the old portal of power to play the game instead of having a brand new one.

Game is faster paced

I don't feel tired after running through 2 stages. The stages aren't insanely huge and still have a good degree of decent puzzles, platforming, and combat.

Online Play

Online Co-Op or just racing. If you can find someone now you don't have to hope that another family member or local friend actually wants to play this game.

Sharpfin is back

Miscellaneous my favorite NPC is back.

The Bad and Ugly:

Online Play:

What online play? I haven't found anyone playing this game online. I'm glad they're smart enough to give the option to turn off voice chat. Thank god. But still WHERE IS EVERYONE PLAYING THIS GAME? I've been online multiple times and found no one. Probably limited by version and possibly region lock. In terms of this game competing with every other online game. And this game is competing in the Kart Racing online market.  I already see this getting destroyed by games like MarioKart, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, etc.

The Paywall

Yeah the Paywall while its a bit easier to overcome this round. It's still there. You can't complete the other level objectives unless you have the corresponding vehicle. You can't race on the other courses without that vehicle as well. To add insult to injury you need the corresponding trophy to play on the other tracks and mirrored courses.

Dull Music

The music is forgettable heck likely the same as its been in the previous games. This does bug me. Cause music drives me to continue to play the game.

Glitches, Bugs?

I don't know but I seemed to have come across an in game bug were at times during certain races my Car gets launched in a completely different direction. With no rhyme or reason this happens. I tried contacting Activision via Twitter about it since they do respond (although they don't respond favorably) but I've received no answer to this glitch. I wouldn't be concerned if I didn't immediately see that this game received an online update. Meaning that any bugs and glitches can be fixed. I've only found one bug so far but I imagine that through continued play I'll find more as go on.

CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE GUEST CHARACTERS! ARGH!!!

I hate this...I hate this in every game its used in for many reasons. This being no exception. This game has Bowser and Donkey Kong as our guest characters. However they're only available and playable on Nintendo only consoles. They also can serve as Amiibo's.  I hate this cause I want to play as Bowser but requires I buy the Wii version. (DK's on the Wii U).  Not only that but now if you were to play a non-Nintendo version of this game there's 2 skylanders missing from the roster.

Once Again getting Skylander Figures is a pain

Where I live...getting Skylanders is a crap shoot. I should rephrase that. Getting functional and intact skylanders is a crap shoot. While they do go like hot cakes. The stores nearby me are either shady, lazy, or both. Never restocking when they're supposed to. And then asking if its available or coming out they'll never tell you the truth here. You'd have better luck on ebay. I've searched various online stores saying that a Skylander is in stock but then get told in person they never had em. This is cause that Skylander is being held behind the counter for the cashier to buy instead of the customer. I also have to deal with this like Yugioh cards. Except to see some skylanders opened, or broken cause someone wanted to steal it.

Also consider the fact that Activision releases there figures the same way. Certain skylanders I have to wait till a specific date to get them. And hope I get lucky that they're available.

Overall

I actually appreciate this game a lot more than the previous games. A lot of the things done fixed some of the glaring problems of previous games. While some problems will probably never be fixed. This game is fun to play and not as costly as it used to be. I do hope one day I can find someone online to play and I wish the music was better. But this game is better than the previous installments and I welcome the changes.

Worth the money? Yes.
