A Retraction Or An Update - Something Is Wrong With Atlus

After contacting customer service with Atlus. I got a response from them. I emailed all the appropriate addresses including the one where the strike came from in the first place. The response came from

And Not

Atlus took the blame and said they don't know why it happened in the first place. They were discussing what to do about it. I asked if I should submit a counter notification and he said yes. So in about a day the Copyright Strike was rescended. Now the video is back up.

On the other hand. I got to thinking. This is another one of those fake copyright takedown attempts. It doesn't make sense for the address to come from  I checked It's just a website that was made in 2016. It has information on what a copyright is and that's it.

This makes me think of a comment I received long ago about how people would make up a fake website and issue copyright takedowns using that site. Probably even designed a bot to search keywords and take down any video related to those keywords. Since not just myself but many other people at the same time got a strike for it. And it was manual too. Manual strikes take a long time to do.

So I looked up one of my older strikes. The Ragnarok Odyssey Ace one.  I found someone else had a strike on video from the same guy in his facebook. The screenshot he took had very similar words used. His was a Ragnarok online video. Then I noticed that we both used 3, silver, and a few other words in our video titles. Way too coincidental.

I bet the same thing happened with Persona 5. Or it could be a conspiracy against not popular Youtubers to try and get rid of them while making it look legit. We don't know. What I do know is. That the Persona 5 copyright strike was a mistake and I got it fixed...for me. If you had a similar issue you might want to try and contact Atlus customer service. But go through there site. Not the e-mail Youtube gives.

Atlus Can't Be Trusted - Copyright Strike

Of all the companies didn't expect these guys to come out with a copyright strike.

Yep they manually gave me one. OVER A POKEMON VIDEO!

You know like everyone else I decided to jump in on the memes of Persona 5. Making a 30 second video about it. Basically Excadrill doing a Z-Move on a Pokemon. I used the Persona 5 Cut-In, with everyone's favorite sound clip from P5's Protagonist. ("Ravage Them")  Threw in a bit of P5 music. And done.

This is pretty much what it looked like.

I guess Atlus wasn't having that. As they came in and put a copyright strike on the video. Not stating what part of the content is infringing. Just that it's manually detected. So someone from Atlus's Copyright Police came across the video and decided to report it.

This goes completely against what they stated as Copyright and what not to upload. Which BTW EVERYBODY AND THERE DOG HAS VIOLATED AT THIS POINT!

Remember that post on there own website? I'm sure you do if you're a Persona 5 fan. That was when Atlus came out and said hey you can post Persona 5 content but don't post "this" "this" and "this". You know that post. The one that everyone complained about.

Screenshots of there post.

They were basically trying to avoid true spoilers but rather failed to do so. For one the Japanese version of the game was out for ages at this point. And people just spoiled the game anyway didn't care for the warnings given.

I actually expressed how much I appreciated a company going out of there way to say, "Don't post our content." Since we need more companies to do that instead of just a random Content ID Claim/Copyright Strike appears. But this recent action tells me this was all just a farce. I honestly thought I could trust Atlus. They're generally cool with the use of there content. It's usually Sega, BANDAI-NAMCO, Square-Enix, etc. that you have issues on copyright with. Atlus is usually cool with it. I guess they hate memes...or they hate my single meme.

As you can see. The tools to make your own P5 Meme are all over the net.

Want to make your own P5 Meme. Go here.

It's all in the video description

The X-Men Cometh - Marvel Future Fight Update

Marvel Future Fight spoiled us to death with teasers, then dropped this update. X-Men have been added to the game.  The paywall is steeper than ever now. And there's OP characters all over the place. And By OP I mean they're really OP not Sharon Rogers level more like Dr. Strange levels.

I like this part of the new GUI.

So first with this update the user interface has changed. It's changed to try and organize where to find each mode in the game. What I like about this is the checklist or really it's called the Status Board. It shows all the modes available to you and whether or not you completed said mode and how much progress you made. This is useful. But it moved everything else to other areas so it's not as easily accessible and confusing for the first few times. I have hard time checking the Lab since it's not right there when I start up the game.

New Uniforms

Gwenpool - Gwen Poole

Face Portrait and character model...difference is scary.

Not a huge change. Really just a uniform to have a uniform. Enhances her skill Adventurous. Changes the skill Bombs n' Blades. It's more of a rush move now. So Gwenpool can be aggressive a bit more.

Crystal - Royal Suit

Zero-Suit Crystal

So now Crystal has her own Zero Suit. Which is what I'm going to call these cause that's what they are. Just like Sharon Rogers. Crystal has her own Zero Suit.  I think this may be a typo on the effects here but it says, "Add more web shots to the skill "Cyclone".  The skill does change but I don't think it shoots webs. Just sayin. I don't know, I don't use this character.  Element Rage also got a change in it's skill. But I don't play this character I don't know lol. Sorry.

New Characters - X-Men

So let's add X-Men to the roster. And honestly they're almost as great as there Marvel vs Capcom counterparts....almost.

The Stats Scream Glass Cannon

Scott Summers is a glass cannon. And very well should be considering his skills. Laser Point Strike ignores targeting. Optic Barrage goes on pretty much forever. Is that supposed to be that way? I managed 174+ hits with this move in the preview. It just didn't stop. O_O  I'm guessing that it has no hitstun properties. Otherwise this move is BROKEN!  No defense though hence GLASS CANNON.  Guess this plays well for a lot of players that simply go all in with attack build setups.

Jean Grey - Phoenix

The Phoenix we wanted for Marvel vs Capcom 3. But the one we didn't get.

Well no Dark Phoenix but really this is the Phoenix we wanted for MvC3 and never got. Able to resurrect herself and unlike Groot have high attack power going for her. She can even recover HP. Her attacks cover a wide portion of the screen as well. So Phoenix is just as scary as she is EVERY time she shows up in the X-Men series. Unfortunately she's a native Tier-2 and very hard to unlock as well. Likely longer than Dr. Strange. I'll explain why later.

Cause you can't have X-Men without him.

It's kind of a rule. You can't have X-Men anything without Wolverine in it. Another native Tier-2 character and powers up just like Dr. Strange. So epic quest here we come.  He has his own HP recovery move that kicks in the moment he takes damage. Packing Super Armor and massive critical hit boosts for himself. Wolverine's leader skill is meh. But the rest of his skills probably make him the best combat type in the game now. Even has a skill that HITS EVERYTHING ON THE SCREEN!!!

Sorry she doesn't have Rice Krispies Treats Attack (Marvel 2 Reference)

Well she's not Marvel vs Capcom Storm but good enough. Honestly she's the character that brought me down to reality since her skills are meh compared to the others. While she can keep moves active and sports a manual control thing like Cyclops. She's open to punishment. Her stats leave to be desired as well but at least her leader skill increases everyone's speed. And she's a lightning user. So I can't complain there.

The Beast

Waited awhile for this guy.

Despite being down on reality along with Storm. This was the character I was looking forward to. He's one of my favorite X-Men (Shame Gambit didn't get added).  His skills remind me a lot of Ulik's. The problem is like most X-Men they don't team up well with others that aren't X-Men. He gets a buff when his HP falls below 65%. He also has a Kid Kaiju/Warwolf-esque Tier-2 buff of increasing the team's damage.

The Speed Type I want

A speed type I've been looking for. Most of the speed types I see outside of Karnak basically do the thing they're somehow always able to do. DODGE. Well Rogue does that and can recover HP. Not to mention she can make herself immune to damage. Her leader skill also gives a chance of being immune to damage for the team. Definitely a character I'm adding. Since most speed types I have don't do much.

Doubt I'll be seeing much Magneto ROM shenanigans

Honestly I have to look around and find something good about him. What I'm seeing here he feels like a disappointment. Especially to the curly-mustache meme. I guess after Marvel 3 (Marvel vs Capcom 3) he's just not the same anymore. His moves scream crowd control. And he's a human killer? But he's the master of magnetism, why not Machine?  Also his leader skill only applies to Mutants. X-MEN ONLY! NO INHUMANS, ALIENS, HUMANS, ETC. ALLOWED!  It's nice his normal attacks shoot from quite a distance.  And he's a glass cannon

Doesn't help that he has a STEEP Paywall

The Paywall

These prices sure are fair (sarcasm)

So how do you unlock these guys?  Well guess what. If you were thinking of doing a daily 20 biometrics or a 300 selector bio. You're not getting these guys that easily. To acquire these guys is just like with Dr. Strange. Except more locks to work around. It's another epic quest series. You have to complete specific objectives.  You get a free wolverine from this but like Dr. Strange he can only be leveled up through the completion of objectives. Then the other characters are locked in quest. Storm, Cyclops, Beast, and Rogue are locked here just like the Dr. Strange cast. Also you can't just get there bios easily by buying them. Instead of Biometrics you have to acquire "X-Genes" of that character.

To acquire Jean Grey. You must complete the story objectives but more importantly.  Rogue, Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto, and Storm must all be 6 star mastery tier-2 before you can acquire Jean Grey. Whatever reason Beast doesn't count. Giving the furry guy the short end of the never ends.

You can shorten the research parts by paying crystals but still....ugh....

Now the paywall...Basically the paywall if you choose to buy this lies in MAGNETO. You can purchase a Tier-2 fully mastered Magneto for the low low cost of 6600 Crystals!!!!

6600 Crystals is the highest amount I've seen for anything in this game.

And there's no cheap way to get these crystals fast. You can pay 70 bucks and get 6000 crystals, 350 - X-Genes, etc.  You can pay $80 for 11,000 crystals if you take advantage of the sale. Either way you're paying a ton of money. Good luck with that.

How I Feel About It

Finally characters I like being added. Although there's no Sauron or Gambit. I'll take it. Also anything that isn't Sharon Rogers I'll gladly take. Will this change how the game is played? Doubtful if you care or even pay attention to that crap. This will probably only change the serious competitive scene of gameplay. And not by a whole lot. It's hard to knock, Odin, Thanos, etc off there high horse.  Also the steep paywall is annoying. I'll just play the game as normal.

All I can say is take advantage of the X-Men epic quest as much as you can. It probably won't be long before that mode gets updated and the amount of X-Genes you can get from the epic quest is heavily limited. Just like the Dr.Strange one was.

Psychic Force 2012 - Difficult to Go Back To

I just seem to be finding all the games that are just hard to go back to. I have a hard time coming back to old games I played in the past anyway. I have an even harder time sticking to the new ones.

Anyway Psychic Force 2012. 3D Arena Fighting Game. Very few I know of it's kind. Even fewer I know by name or even seen. An old friend of mine says it's like Dragonball Z. Well...he's very imaginative. But it's different. Probably one of the most balanced fighting games I've played. Although what balance is in fighting games is by definition is has not been made clear.  It's just plain fun. Except it has fallen to time. And is overshadowed by everyone's favorite fighting games. You know the ones.

Well I shouldn't even bother explaining this. But this was when I like fighting game story modes. It has a nice process to it that respects your time, and let's you take a guess at what happens instead of debunking any theories you come up with. Here are the steps as to what I like in a GOOD fighting game story.

  1. Instruction Manual Explains just enough to understand.
  2. pick a character
  3. witty banter between 2 characters
  4. fight
  5. witty banter after you win
  6. next stage or ending
  7. Repeat steps 3 - 6 until you reach the end.
  8. See the ending and wonder what happens in the next game.
Why can't more fighting games do this? Actually why did fighting games stop doing this? Now they just do things that annoy me in terms of explaining the game's story. To the point that I just don't care. And at that point I don't even want to play the game. Things like:
  • Forced to play as characters
  • Incredibly long story telling that doesn't respect your time
  • Only 1 ending (maybe 2)
  • It's more of a cinematic movie than actually playing a game.
These days we're lucky to even have an arcade mode. So I guess I should take what I get right? really turns me off from the game entirely when I don't have much of a reason to get interested in the characters. And the way fighting games do stories now. I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to play.

The Actual Game's Story

Phew that was a rant. Anyway. This game takes place 2 years after the first Psychic Force game. But before I go into that. I have to give you a gist of what's going on in this universe.

It's the future and now there are people awakening to new powers called ESP. However only a select few people can even use this power. These psychics were dubbed the name Psychiccers. Humans fear them cause they have all this power and could possibly take over or destroy the world. Psychiccers fear or really hate humans cause of all the discrimination they take. So a group of Psychiccers got together and formed a group named Noah. In hopes of making a Utopia of there own where only Psychiccers exist. Well the Army isn't gonna stand for that and decided to utilize Psychiccers to build better armies. Well Burn the main character doesn't like either side and wants his friend Keith (who happens to be the leader of Noah) to stop his madness.

A different outcome on the same story. If you play as Wendy. I like this style of fighting game storylines.

This is all starting to sound like X-Men. Cause it pretty much is. Just with Psychics instead of mutants.

Well Psychic Force 1 despite the many character endings that all added up ends with an epic battle of Burn vs Keith, but it ends prematurely due to an explosion that would try to claim there lives.  Okay I gave you a generally vague explanation of the first game. Now for the 2nd game.

So 2 years later. Noah which was thought to be disbanded reforms to be called Neo-Noah. The Psychic Army is stronger than ever cause it's led by a Psychiccer named Richard Wong. Who betrayed Noah and tried to kill Burn and Keith. Wong is well on his way towards world domination and Keith sits in solitude. While there are a few others that roam around freely. In fact the story pays attention to a new protagonist, named Might. Might has no memory of his past. Just that his mission is to kill all Psychiccers. He doesn't know why. But he was rescued by a girl named Patty who found him badly wounded. Might's mission is to kill all Psychiccers but why he doesn't know. He just does it. So his fights turn crazy especially when it comes to killing Patty.  Might finds out that he's a soldier that Wong created in the future and sent him back to the past to help out his army. Except Might's mission is to kill all Psychiccers. So guess what Wong. That includes you.

I think Might didn't make it to the wrong movie.

That's but one of the character stories. There's plenty other characters. And every ending leaves you on that note of wondering which ending happened. I like this cause you get to know every character in the game. Not just a few characters. You get to decide who's the good guy and bad guy. And should the sequel get released you get to go, "Ohhhhhh so that's what happened."

Character Cliche

Burn's Hair style. You can't copy that. Well you can but...

The characters and the elements they use are rather cliche. I might be lenient and say they're more than likely totally cliche. Keith who uses ice gives virtually everyone the cold shoulder. Emelio uses Light but has issues with his dark/evil side. Wong controls time and throws out swords as his attack. Not only that but comes off as having all the time in the world to come up with plans and destroy his opposition. Setsuna uses darkness but his power hungry. Genshin uses Magic and comes off as a wise old man.  Patty uses sound and sings. Then heal people.

See the cliche's here. It's very trope, anime, videogame cliche's going on here. The character's attitude matches there powers.

I know you weren't here to read about my thoughts on fighting game storylines. If you never played an Arena fighting game before. You might be in for some trouble getting used to the controls.  There isn't really a facing left or right side of the screen when it comes to command inputs. You input your moves based on where you want to launch whatever attack. But if you're not confident in doing that. Then you can turn on Beginner mode and all attacks will be aimed at your opponent.

Problem is. That this game is more about landing trick shots on your opponent. Playing mind games with them. Forcing them to move where you want so you can inflict a lot of damage. You have a hard time doing that with just beginner mode.

As for balancing. I would say this game is pretty well balanced. I have a hard time saying that one character is overpowered. Cause once I say that I find that another character can easily beat that character. I think it would be incredibly hard to tier list this game. Although I bet people would do so. And then try to ban the boss/hidden characters.

While I did put this to a meme. This is an example of trapping your opponent in a setup.

My issue is. I used to be great at this game. Now come 15+ years later I'm just mediocre. Age does bad things. Not only that but this is one of those games that will probably never see the light of day again. It's overshadowed by games like Street Fighter. And the company that owns this game is Taito. Who used to make tons of arcade games. I looked up the game to see if I could find images of the characters and found out Taito still exist and still own the rights to this game. But they're not doing anything with it. Sad cause this is one of the games I would love to come out on a modern system and play online. But it has a niche audience so finding players would be scarce. Especially when places like Youtube and Twitch are among the main sources of having a game gain any fame. Sad times for fighting games to be honest.

There's also the fact of little replay value. Since today everything's played online. Unless you somehow got this game to run on an emulator and online play. You have Story Mode and Arcade Mode. Both are pretty much the same. Then you have Vs CPU. And Training. Watch Mode. Not much else to do.  Unless you have friends interested this game as much as you are.

PS2's Psychic Force 2 Opening

Well first off this game is the version US got on Dreamcast. There's a version of this game on the PS2 called Psychic Force 2. Psychic Force 2 has characters from the first game included on this one. But at the cost of graphics. 2012 has far better Graphics in comparison and better frame rate too.

The character's looks are pretty memorable. As memorable of your typical anime. You won't really see people dress like these guys. They're totally anime cliche. You have the guy that never opens his eyes unless he's about to kill you. The guy with a really weird haircut. A guy that looks like a girl and even sounds like a girl. Short skirt girls. You know the anime tropes. It's just missing a loli.
Setsuna looks like he belongs in Gundam or some other Super Robot Anime.
While the gameplay is in 3D. There are some cutscenes particularly endings that use anime screenshots. You know like in older fighting games. You don't really see this done often anymore. I think Guilty Gear and Blazblue are the only ones that still use that method for stories today. These days it's about 3D graphics cause it's somehow cheaper to render a 3D model than drawing it out. Whatever.
The graphics look good. But it's cliche. I will admit though summoning a giant ice dragon or a phoenix to catch my opponent and explode them is pretty bad ass. And Gudeath's grab is just awesome watch. I don't see fighting game grapplers these days that grab there opponent by the face then drag them across the wall.

Gudeath: We goin for a ride boy!

I enjoy listening to the music on this game. Very much fits a fighting game and there's no song in this game that makes me say, "why is this here?" You can even change the option to listen to the arcade version of the character theme. Although I'm not too fond of the arcade version and prefer the arranged BGMs.

I don't want to talk about the voice acting too much. It's all Japanese voice acting. My problem with this isn't how it sounds, but in how it's glorified as the best voice acting ever. I always find people saying just watch the Subbed version as it sounds better and that English sucks. I hate subs. I pretty much have to watch whatever episode multiple times cause I'm too busy reading instead of seeing the animation on screen. You might say well just learn Japanese. Well I'm 30 and I don't want to learn another language that I won't make much use of. I rather have my game or anime I'm watching in a language I understand.  And the rare cases of bad voice acting are few and very far between.

That was another tangent. The issue with the Japanese voice acting for me is that if I ask someone what the character is saying. Or someone else see's the game's story mode. The obvious complaint will turn up saying that someone did a horrible translation. I know this cause I read through the manual and noticed there's a few grammar errors throughout it. Also a few quotes don't sound too right to me. I hear it on other games it translates to something else. So I can't be too sure.

Would I want this game to come back and be playable on modern systems? Yes and No. Yes because this is a fighting game series I like. But no cause if there was a remake or a sequel. I feel like the changes made would be to try an attract an audience rather than being a good game.

Like they would add Goku as a character or put in some crazy mechanic that the game never even needed. Not only that but this game was one of those that appeal to a niche audience. That means there won't be too many people playing. Unless it somehow gained the popularity of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken. This game wouldn't be played much outside of Japan.

I still like this game to this day. I think it should be recognized more. Maybe someone could point out it's flaws a lot easier. But for me it's how a fighting game should be. For the most part.

World Bosses - Marvel Future Fight

Finally managed to take down 5 of the 7 World Bosses. Without resorting to the supposed OP characters. Just sort of a brief analysis of what myself and anyone is up against in this game.

What's Great

You can randomly get a ton of great prizes. High Ranking ISO-8's, Dark Matter, Custom Gears, etc. For winning.

What Sucks

You can only defeat each World boss 5 times a day. So you don't spam the world bosses and instantly unlock them. Can't have that. The prizes also range from crap to great. Worst is that you cannot reuse the same characters to fight the boss again.

Of course the main reward is that you gain the biometrics of the defeated world boss. You'll need around 20 of them. And they level differently from the other normal characters.

World Bosses Themselves

Proxima Midnight

I call her pew pew lady. She's got GeminiMan's Gemini Lasers. And pretty much spams them. By Gemini Laser I mean they bounce on the walls a couple of times trying to hit you. She's actually the easiest of the 7 (Arguable). Worst she does is is cover the screen with lasers leaving no safe spot. She only has 3 phases though and doesn't change her game plan much.

Black Dwarf

Haven't beaten him yet

The guy you'll be using so much profanity about. Cause he's built like a tank.  And built with the idea of killing you in just a few smacks. Doesn't help that he adds tons of bleed damage. Even worse his high physical defense. I hate trying to maneuver around this guy since I always get hit for some reason. Worst is that he packs that stupid full screen kill you regardless attack. You can avoid it if he's not in the center of the arena trying to pull it off. Or if you manage to unleash so much damage that you stop him granting you sometime to heavily damage him.

I want this guy but I still can't beat him. His attacks are far too wide to avoid. And being able to knock you out in only a few hits hurts.

Corvus Glaive

Recording the video tomorrow.

Seems simple at first....then you see what he's sporting. Abusing the infinity gems power allowing him to revive granting him 3 lives. He also has bleed damage and burn damage. Then can even paralyze you leaving  you open to his assault. The worst aspect of this guy is his insane dodge rate. If you're not packing Ignore Dodge expect to see the word "DODGE" In bold letters for a lot of your attacks. He also summons minions which fall easily but annoy you while he winds up for his big attacks.

Dumb name. She has the power to mind control people and she brainwashed Black Bolt of all people. While her attacks aren't that great. It's really him that'll annoy you to death and then end up placing you under Fear Status. So you lose control for a few seconds while she whittle away at your HP. She even packs the famous FU screen kill move that you have to stop. Great.

Ebony Maw

Troll. That's what this guy is. A troll. Telegraphed attacks. But his main thing is running away while hopefully you get trapped so he can smack you. It gets even worse when he's low in HP as he'll summon the Nova Corps to make you lose track of where he is.

The big man himself. Your typical Action game boss as well. He packs moves that just plain hurt and honestly its like playing Devil May Cry or a similar game. At low HP he'll start doing attacks I swear I can do nothing about in terms of avoiding. So yeah your pissed typical action game boss.

Thanos Infinity

Haven't beaten him yet.

Thanos again just tankier and not willing to put up with your crap. Even my Groot couldn't stand up to the guy. That's how hard he hits. -_- And his HP is through the roof. It's unfair tbh. But this is a mobile game thus mobile game logic.

Looking at this now. I'll be forever behind on this game. As they already released Super World Bosses. A higher difficulty for World Bosses. With more BS added to lesson the fun.

Why Not Use Broken/OP Characters?

I know all about them. I just don't care about them. They are not characters I like. I feel like using/playing with those characters will just ruin the game for me. Not cause they're "Too OP PLS Nerf", but because I feel like I won't be having fun playing the game. It's more satisfying to me to do it with characters I like rather than play tiers. If the character I like happens to be OP, Top tier, or whatever then that's a bonus. I have the same feeling for fighting games and well pretty much every game.

Besides in mobile games there's always a point where they'll invent new things that make the previous OP strategies useless.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes - Fun While Depressed

Playlist to be completed soon

I ended up finally plugging this game into my Xbox 360. After forcing myself out of bed, whipping away tears, and trying to not think about killing myself. Did me well I suppose since I'm writing this.

It's sorta a step down from Lego Marvel Avengers but it works. I can't imagine the copyrights and content ID claims I'll have to deal with in this game. The LEGO games are mired in it.

So this is a way to get a crash course on most of the prominent Marvel Heroes and Villians. The main avengers, Spiderman, Hulk, Fantastic 4, etc. But really this gives a focus on the Silver Surfer. If you don't remember his story. He's basically the guy who brings disaster to whatever world he passes by cause Galactus soon comes by and devours said world.

Dr. Doom attacks the Silver Surfer and takes part of his board for his evil plan. But for whatever reason Loki, Dr. Octopus, Magneto, and even Abomination have joined forces. So we need everyone in on this including Shawarma to deliver food to find out what's going on and stop it.

The story has tons of Lego and Marvel comedy while giving us tons basic info on each of the main heroes.

I actually love the sound here. While you don't have the authentic movie voices of the marvel characters. You do have notable voices. You do have some issues during parts of the game where a character speaks but because they're not on screen they'll sound distant. It's best to turn on Subtitles to rectify this. Even though the subtitles can be rather annoying in size.

The music that picks up during the boss fights is notable to me. Since it actually felt like a good moment for the stage to pick up in pace. It does sound sorta generic but in a good way.

Well it's Legos. I mean you can't really expect much outside of Lego. I did find it annoying how the help text would constantly pop up for certain things when I'm trying to do something else. But it's Legos and I appreciate how the entire world loads pretty quickly and no long loading times for such a big world. I was stopped at the border of the world a few times. One side there's some construction workers that tell me I can't go any further cause they're working and it'll take a long time. Likely that's a DLC area or something else. Then if I fly too far to the edge of a map using one of the flight vehicles...well it blows up cause of the invisible wall.

Gameplay is your typical Lego game. You beat up legomen, collect bricks, break stuff, activate switches, if you're stuck then you gotta build stuff with the obvious bricks laying around. The same replay value that exists is around as well. Come back with different characters to collect the things you're missing.  There's side quest as well as a character creator. Although I find the character creator rather lacking.

What I didn't like is the camera at times I couldn't adjust it to where I could see that I'm walking off a bottomless pit. There's no game overs though so it's simple to deal with. I did find the game rather hand-holding since the basic information about characters and whatever object in path would pop-up on screen constantly. I'm not dumb game.

Another thing I found annoying is how certain characters can't use vehicles. I unlocked Rocket Raccoon but turns out he can't use vehicles of any kind and can't even activate switches. -_- So much for a tactical super genius raccoon.

There's a ton of extra gameplay you can do especially after you finish the game. As usual of course. Tons of characters to unlock. Vehicles. Just loads of extras to keep you busy in the game. The games about 15 levels long with around 20 side missions. Not counting the sidequest like races, save the town, etc.

Good for keeping you busy. If you like Legos. The levels aren't long. Take about 20 - 30 minutes each if not shorter. And you got your classic Lego Comedy along with Nick Fury's love for Shawarma. What's not to like.

Youtube Update April 2017 - Older and Tired

So April 2nd I turn 30. Honestly I can say nothing about it. Just makes me sad. I mean a lot of things in my life if not everything pretty much went opposite of what I wanted. My own fears and views of the world stop me from taking risks. But really there's no one to push me to do things. Just everyone being nice and going all like, "You're doing great. Keep it up." When I'm not.

Well Youtube is just as it is. They keep making changes and you can do nothing but complain and accept them. So youtube removed the option of Fan Funding. Which is essentially google's version of having a Paypal and asking for donations there. What's being removed in the future is Annotations and in it's place is end title cards. Removing annotations is essentially going to cripple a lot of websites that make money through allowing them to make annotations on your videos. They're adding more stuff that I can't really make use of.

I've been trying to get back into livestreaming. Trying. The mentality behind it though is just ugh.  I stress out every time I try to setup. I read a guide or newsletter talking about streaming and it said to just fake my feelings. But that's something I just can't do. I only thought of livestreaming again to get more publicity. I'd do it on Youtube but it doesn't feel like I'd get anywhere streaming on Youtube and it's setup is just ugh.

I've already explained what I don't like about Streaming. The time it takes. How much I get done versus how much I get done when not streaming, The shoutouts, the chat. Just so much anxiety at this point.

While I get comments they're more or less the same. Even more so I'm finding it harder to view comments. Like I get comments but no notifications that someone made a comment. Or I'll get notifications but it's like from ghost often times. My phone beeps off way late when I get comments. It's just hard to respond to comments now.

I haven't improved or did worse in views or subs. I honestly think subscribers don't matter at this point cause what's the point of having subscribers when your subscribers don't respond. In fact I can say that the majority of mine only subscribed for one video. And it's usually a video from ancient times.

I'm very likely repeating myself here. But New/Indie games don't grab viewers. It may cause a sudden increase in viewers but then they'll disappear after a few days and that's me being generous with that number. Game Grumps and pretty much play whatever they want and never have to worry about viewers.  I hate those that always say that I should play New games or Indie games to grab viewers. I understand your trying to help. But you're honestly being presumptuous and you don't even know it.

Where's your proof that this is fact? What are you basing this on? Why does that work? I can't trust it.

Another thing I hate is how Youtube makes my old playlist nonexistent. But if I create a new playlist of the same name then search it they both turn up. The old and the new one. Youtube I've been on youtube for a very long time and I feel like you're trying to kick me out. Why not kick out those other guys? You know the ones that make you look bad, that deliberately go against the policies you set and yet still yield high amounts of views.  Sigh...whatever that's how the world is and I just live in it.

I still struggle to stay consistent with playthroughs. A big issue now is mobile games. I like some of the mobile games others I don't. I tried to stick to schedule in playing these but daylight savings ruins it. Mobile Games don't bother with changing along with Daylight Savings for one reason or another. Forcing me schedule later. Then there's the whole bit of editing videos I hate Adobe Premiere. It always likes to give one issue or another. I want find something else that's reliable and doesn't give some BS reason to crash or refuse to read files, etc.

Marvel Future Fight

Well this game I'm at a point where I need to grind heavily before I do anything significant. I don't like recording something like a daily quest. It'll be just me doing the same thing over and over again. Nothing significant. I rather wait till I get something to happen. Like I got a character maxed out. Or I beat a world boss.

DBZ Dokkan

I don't really enjoy this game. This is one of those games I rather just look at the nice artwork of the cards and see the animations of super attacks. I rather not play this game. Even if people like it. It's just not fun for me. I'm not up for putting forth my full effort into this game.

Hexyz Force

This is a game I do enjoy despite how long it takes me. I'm trying to do the playthrough like how I saw another youtuber I watch. He records all the cutscenes and boss fights together as a clip. I figured I'd do that for people. I don't know how people respond to that though. There's 2 different stories and a final story. So this game is very interesting to me and I wish I played it a long time ago. I just couldn't get my hands on a copy.

Skylanders: Imaginators

There's still things to do. I just need to go out actually buy them Too bad it's rather expensive and I can't afford it.

Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb

This game reminds me of Ross's quote (From Ross's Game Dungeon) about Old PC Game endings. Where they're very mediocre. And this game pretty much supports his comment. The end of the game is rushed. The ending gives tons of plot holes. But there's an online comic series to continue the story.

You can go here to view it:

Pokemon: Moon

I should've finished this game months ago. But finally got it from Gamefly and Well. Now I have a hard time just sticking to the game. I hate trying to record it. Since one, people complain about the quality cause I don't have a 3DS capture card. Two, the amount of effort I do to at least record the game in the first place. And 3 I feel like I have no time to play it. I try to play it. Get a good run going then the battery is dying and I have to stop. Or something comes up forcing me to stop. Or I'm just at one of those points where I'm bored and don't feel like playing. Or my depression kicks in and I just don't do jack squat but lay in bed all day. Yeah this playthrough is troublesome.

Stuff I Want To Play

I don't care that people say Overwatch is better and Battleborn is crap. Cause everyone I've heard say that has the reasoning of the company's previous game was garbage. Whatever that previous game was. First off I look at Overwatch and I was excited. I was hoping that Overwatch was going to be a movie cause the super long trailer was pretty much a movie. And all the lore and story they put into the game makes it pretty scream that it's a movie. Then I look at the gameplay and it's all the same. Online Multiplayer, Kill each other, get to the payload, kill each other, capture and defend bases, kill each other. No single player. Yet the trailers dump all those story into the game but it doesn't matter at the end of the day.

Yet I see Battleborn, and they have Single and Multiplayer modes. A story campaign. Your classic set of multiplayer modes of killing each other. And interesting characters. So why does it suck again? Oh right Gearbox Software? Wait what's bad about Gearbox Software? I don't know...and I don't care cause very likely I will never play the other games made by them and I'm more focused on this game. Not the company. I'd go more into but that tangent would be another 6 paragraphs of text you won't read.

Freedom Planet 2

I definitely want to play this when they finish it. I almost went out my way to buy the first one on console. Almost. Good thing I'm poor. But yes I can't wait for this to be finished.

 BUCK Game

I played the demo sometime last year. And it's now been released. I was impressed with this game. I was expecting zombies, but got this instead. I'm ecstatic because of that. I didn't feel bored, I felt like wanting to do more. I haven't felt that way about a game since Dust: An Elysian Tale.

Stories: The Path of Destinies

If I could ever get a new video card I would totally play this. I keep looking at this game and reminding myself that I got to get a new video card to play this. I hope that happens one day in my life before I die. Cause this game is apparently great.

That's about everything I can think of to talk about. Hope you guys enjoy yourselves. I'm going to sleep later everyone.

Power Rangers - Legacy Wars: Tarnished My Legacy

I'm pretty sure every one of you out there has had a game that you looked forward to playing when it came out then you play it and your like....ugh. Well that's how I feel with this game. Power Rangers - Legacy Wars is a fighting game for mobile devices. You pick rangers from your favorite series from Mighty Morphin up to the 2017 Movie. Obviously this game was to celebrate/promote the new 2017 movie. But honestly it doesn't do a good job. Lack of gameplay options, not much explanation given, a badly organized character roster, and mechanics make this game really meh at best.

So the concept of this game is that Rita Repulsa (The 2017 Movie One) decides to corrupt the legacy of the Power Rangers. Now it's up to you to recruit characters get rid of this corruption. That's it. From that point onward you get thrown into a tutorial that tells you how to fight. But it doesn't tell you everything. After you finish the tutorial the only thing left is PvP.

What's Good?

I guess I should note what's good first. So I admire the character models. They're pretty well done. Although you could say it's simple to make models like that since the character roster is mostly rangers. But you got the evil bad guys like Goldar or Xandred. I just wish that like in Marvel Future Fight you could take a closer look at the models.

Actual PvP. On a Mobile game that's kinda rare. Usually when it's PvP it's really you vs another players team. But this is actual PvP. So I have to give props for this.

That's it really...

Behold all the characters you can play as right now. It'll be awhile before they add more.

What's Bad

Everything else is bad. Music is forgettable. The combat while I didn't expect much from this is bad. Basically it's 2.5D fighting game on a mobile device and aside from Street Fighter IV and a few others on mobile. This doesn't do a good job. You swipe left and right to dash or backdash. But you select from a somewhat random assortment of cards to attack or block. And you utilize this to hopefully beat down your opponent.

That's all the tutorial tells you. What you're not told is that blocking attacks you can only block for a small period of time. And there's attacks that break guards. Not only that but there's combos. Combos that only work when certain cards are used in a correct order. The only way you figure this out is through playing the game.

There's also only 2 modes of play in the game. Training and PvP. While that's not bad considering your new standard for fighting games is Training Mode and Online Matches. WAIT WHAT AM I SAYING?! I HATE BOTH THESE MODES IN FIGHTING GAMES!!!

You only get these 2 modes to play. Nothing else. No added story to the game. Which you don't really need. But honestly when your opening intro is Rita Repulsa is doing something evil and the world needs you to stop it. I need a bit more story to go along with it. Not only that. But WHY IS THERE NO SINGLE PLAYER?!

So your PvP is ranked by tiers. As you rank up you get access to more characters...I should explain this though cause at first I thought this would be like Marvel Future Fight where I can easily acquire what I need to recruit whatever character. But it's not. Basically the tiers show you what you can randomly earn from it. Which is nice but there's no specific you'll get this character from this stage. Cause when you win or lose a match you get a treasure box that contains random stuff. And just like Marvel Future Fight you need a specific amount of whatever character to unlock that character and level him/her/it up.

These are Leader Characters. Notice the Fancy Boxes?
These are Assist characters. There boxes aren't fancy.

And this is great. The character roster although small. Which likely won't stay small for too long cause it's a mobile game. It's unorganized. I looked through the character roster and found 2 of the same character. Why? Well that's another concept of the game. You have a main fighter and 2 assist characters in your team. Why do I bring this up? Well not all the characters are playable. They're just assists. And to make it worse you can't really tell these apart from one another. The Leader characters have a slightly fancier box then the assist characters. But when I look at the roster they're all jumbled up together. I can't separate them either.

And here's a small gripe I have and experience with the game. I can't change my name. I am now and forever know as Ranger01245641 or whatever. I tried entering my name but it wouldn't let me change it. I thought at first it's because maybe someone already has my name. So let me try something else. Nope. I just can't change it.

This game is a huge disappointment for me. First off this game wanted me to pre-register. Cause it wasn't out at the time. So that makes me think that there's gonna be something big coming cause I pre-registered. I got nothing. 2nd Seeing screenshots from other people that played the closed beta of the game made me think oh this game will be awesome. It's not in the slightest. I was happy at first but then as I played it my smile went to a big frown. At least when the game updates I can view the other character models cause I'm not playing it.

I can understand keeping the gameplay simple for the kids that will flock to this game. But it's lack of an actual single player mode hurts it heavily. TRAINING MODE IS NOT A REAL SINGLE PLAYER MODE!!! This game makes Marvel Contest of Champions look godlike and that game is a massive paywall game.  Forget this.

Note: I also don't appreciate this game constantly showing MMPR Green Ranger all day for 10 dollars.

Mid-March 2017 Update - Reason For My Hiatus

A lot's been going on. Dealing with it all is really stressful. Falling behind on  uploads became really stressful then it was even more painful to go out and say I'm going on a hiatus. Which isn't really a hiatus cause I'm still active. The thing about it all is that I know that if I go inactive then my only source of income is gone. Despite how little it is. Multiple unexpected expenses like renewing my license, taxes, plumbing, etc. cut into my life.

Sure some people understand that things have to be taken care of. But the reality is that the bigger number of people is just going to be like, "Well I'll just go someplace else." I already don't have a lot of viewers. Whatever supposed help from my partnership company doesn't help. Maybe I should've switched anyway. They don't focus on Youtubers. They focus more on Vine and other media formats. I believe I average 30 viewers a video.

That whole crap about playing new games or indie games. I hate it. It doesn't make sense and I feel like I'm the guy that pretty much is the exception to that statistic.

Aside from that family issues are always around. Only one good thing happened and that's my mom's X-Boyfriend finally getting kicked out the house. So now I can sleep and not listen to bad music, drunken bouts, or second hand smoke. Guess I got the house to myself for a few hours a day now.

I kept thinking on and off of dipping into my savings to take care of expenses and other things. But I don't want to do it for obvious reason. Like I would probably just spend it all and then end up with nothing in the long run.

I'm generally hanging there in terms of depression.  I don't see a doctor about it anymore so I'm on my own. But I feel better not seeing the doctor since it felt like every time I went I always felt worse about myself. So now I'm on my own about it all.

Well obvious more or less what's being uploaded. But here

Pokemon Moon

Slowly working on it. But man I hate sitting in awkward positions to record this game only to have people complain at me about the quality. Yet it's all I got.

Bloody Roar Extreme

Somewhat of a redo to the old Bloody Roar: Extreme playthroughs. Now hopefully no pixelated mess.

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

I finally got off my butt and released the videos. The commentary version is longer than the non commentary one. Cause I split the videos in the commentary.

Megaman X

Cause I've been depressed. So something to relieve me I suppose.

Hexyz Force

Yeah I just randomly decided. Playthrough this game. And so I am. I wish I wasn't like that. But whatever. I needed to play something.

-_- Hiatus -_-

I need a break. I mean I really need a break. I've been stressing to get videos uploaded in time.  Virtually losing sleep over it. Then stressing over other events that have been occuring that I won't talk about.

Anyway I need time to get things uploaded and ready to go. So my uploads will be staggerred for awhile.  What sucks is it's gonna hurt my general source of income even if I'm already hurting to begin with. But I need this time frame to get videos uploaded and ready to go and not worry about getting things released on time.

There will be uploads here and there but not like usual.

Well This Happened - Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

So while searching for those mcguffins that I need to get other things. I decided to comb every square inch of the map. Ended up landing here and well... The game couldn't handle it.

A Game Made for the Fans: Dragonball Xenoverse - Review

Well I'm a sucker for games that let you create a character in an already existing universe and you basically have to save the heroes butts cause they suck for one reason or another. Dragonball Xenoverse is a mixed bag of love and hate on every level.

Now I should mention that a lot the issues with Xenoverse 1 end up fixed with Xenoverse 2 although I haven't played the 2nd one since I don't have a console for it.

Spoilers Warning

The story is that 2 demons named Towa and Mira are traveling through time to screw it up by basically making Goku lose fights he's supposed to win. Future Trunks or well at this point another Trunk from a different universe witnesses this with the Supreme Kai of Time and decide to put a stop to it. By summoning you with the dragonballs.

You travel to various famous battles in the Dragonball Z timeline fixing them to more or less insure that things play out correctly. Although the game did screw up a bit with the Majin Buu saga. I guess they ran out of space. Or didn't care for certain characters.  The concept of time travel may be an overused plot but it works out.

As you progress through the game you find that some other guy is also doing the same thing to screw up time in order to become the new God of Time. It always seems like demons are just plain evil in the Dragonball universe. The focus shifts from Towa & Mira to a guy named Demigra. Honestly Demigra is pretty cool at least in that final form.

The game decides that since there's no more story to use. They instead move on to movie "Battle of the Gods" and feature Beerus. The favorite character among many Dragonball fans worldwide.

During the story I started to notice that there isn't too big of a focus on the story. The events are kinda repetitive. You talk to Trunks and view a scroll of time being screwed up. Then you get to work. I do find it funny on how alternate takes on battles workout. Obviously Hercule defeating everyone at the Cell games was pretty funny. But aside from these the story is incredibly short and you can easily finish it in less than a week.

Then comes the Parallel Quest (PQs). These have another alternate take on various missions. Such as protecting Frieza of all people from the likes of Goku. Or helping Majin Buu defeat Vegito. And other such crazy stuff. But these are short and I have a love/hate for these.

Character Creation

While I'll probably never be satisfied with Character Creation. I have to say that this falls to a choice of how easy do you want your game to be. You have a choice of being a Human, Saiyan, Namekian, Frieza Race, or Majin. Each having there own unique style. The problem lies not with how broken these races can be at times but how the combat system (explained later) tries to force you to play.

There was at one time where the Namekians were practically immortal. At least on the PC version. Since Namekians have the ability to heal themselves Apparently you could set your game's frame rate to 120 fps and you would heal so fast that the AI couldn't possibly kill you. This ended up fixed in a later patch.

What I do hate in character creation is how stats are tied clothes. I created a human character with probably the most balanced stats around. But the clothing ruins the balance to an annoying degree that makes me want to plug stat points in certain spots just keep my balance. It was honestly at times a choice of "Do I want to look cool and be weak" or "Look really stupid but have godlike stats?"

Not only this issue was a thing but seeing that the Male and Female option rather annoyed me. The races that Male and Female options available (Humans, Saiyans, and Majins) also had different bonuses along with them. Such as more HP, Stamina, etc. I honestly would rather have character creation be more like Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. You select your race, your specialties, and if just wanna be special select these things individually.

My minor issue is that there's not too many parts to design your character like other Dragonball series characters. You can't make Giran, Cell, Beerus, Oozaru(Great Ape), etc. You can have clothes but nothing that really changes your appearance. That's up to mods.

Combat is a mixed bag. Combos are simple. As it's a mix of 2 buttons alternating, along with special moves, and ultimate attacks. Stamina is what helps you fly around the field, block, and do that speedy teleport thing. Your Ki lets you use special moves and ultimate moves.

Problem #1 arrives when you start doing certain quests or story missions. At first they're kinda easy. No big deal. But then as you get further along you start to notice that the enemy AI has unlimited Ki and Stamina. Nevermind the 2 Health Bars. The unlimited Ki and Stamina will piss you off to no end. The harder the mission is the more the AI will start to realize that, "Hey I have cheat codes and the player doesn't!" And they'll use there advantages to piss you off.

While there unlimited Stamina can annoy you. All they do with this is fire off there evasive skills more often than they should. Pretty much slowing down your killing process. Unlimited Ki is the true bane of your existence. Particularly on Saiyan race characters. Or really any main character. They'll start utterly spamming there ultimate skills. You can stop there ultimate attacks with a well timed Fierce attack to the face. But most of the time you'll be running for your life trying to get out of the way of these attacks. It really sucks when you're thrown into missions where you're forced to run the quest solo. Then you're really in trouble.

Example: Quest where you must defeat 8 characters solo. Well in a one on one situation you're fine. Maybe even 2 on 1 you can pull it off. But 3 on 1 is far worst. Like where I have to defeat Goten, Gohan, and Goku. They're all at there powered up states. Each one of them spamming everything they have. I'm focused more on dodging than anything.

Problem #2: Super Armor. If you don't know what Super Armor is. It's basically a fighting game mechanic where a character can take damage and not even be phased by it. They did take damage but there's still coming towards you. This starts as a minor problem to a major flaw in the game. To the point that you might start yelling at the game in utter rage. A well timed fierce attack at full charge can put a stop to this but you might need more than one. Or you could solve this with another solution.

It's these 2 problems alone that can force you into a gameplay mindset of spamming. You'll see a lot of players online and on Youtube pull this off. Generally it consists of using a Saiyan race character. Hit max ki. Go Super Saiyan and spam your ultimates all day. Super Saiyan allows you higher stats and grants you access to use all of you're moves infinitely regardless of amount of ki needed. It lasts as long as you have Ki. This get's incredibly boring you're reduced to this playstyle in order to win some quest. It's like the game is sentient and wants you play this way.

Another issue I have is that some moves just plain suck. I don't really like to say that. But that is the case here. I'm more of a guy that wants to make use of all kinds of moves. There's a reason there in the game right? It really bugs me when I see people say that, "Oh this move sucks. You shouldn't use it." I've saw it a lot in UMvC3 when a guy did a tutorial on Dante saying that he has all of these moves but only 4 of them should be used the rest should never even be thought about. To me if that's the case why are they in the game then?

Anyway there are actually moves that just plain suck. One of them I got from Shenron himself. It's great on paper but man I've seen that move fail multiple times. Like the opponent will just go right through it. Or I would just completely whiff the move cause unlike the others the hitbox on this one is incredibly small. I hate this a lot. Cause this leads to people saying a lot "Oh just spam this move and you'll win it's all you need." Just like with Kingdom Hearts. I want to use certain moves but they suddenly stop working. Not cause oh it's a boss. But more like it just doesn't work anymore.

Combat can be fun but when those 2 problems arrive I just want to quit the game.

Parallel Quests

Well if you played Monster Hunter, Or any other MMORPG you might know where I'm going with this. The Parallel Quests (PQs) are pretty much the side bit to the story. Heck practically becomes the main focus of your gameplay. You fulfill mission objectives and acquire moves, clothing parts, and other things. The problem is that RNG reigns supreme here. It's not like I was expecting to gain whatever move was listed in the quest right away. But RNG also affects whether or not certain added events trigger.  Yes that's right. You could fulfill the mission objectives to the T and you still won't get the Ultimate Finish you're looking for. Cause the game's RNG can decide to just give you the finger and say well no extra quest for you.

What's worse is the combat problems mentioned previously will rear it's ugly head here. It's even worse when your mission objective to protect a character. The enemy AI can randomly decide, "Okay I'm done getting my butt kicked by you. I'll just go kill the other guy now and ruin your quest." This has happened to me so many times I got utterly fed up with the quest and decided **** that I'm doing something else.

  • Mission: Defeat Gohan
  • Suddenly Added Objective: Cell must not die.

It doesn't help that you can't heal these allies. If they die that's it. What's worst is that your allies will basically flip a coin as to whether or not they'll choose to fight back or just stand there looking stupid. Then yelling at you when your getting your butt kicked. Cause apparently you can't fight. Yet you're obviously doing all the work.

Music/Voices/Sound Effects

The music is nonexistent and forgettable. You'll hear music but it's forgettable. Especially during PQs the music will only play when you're in combat. Then it's just dead silence. I would think that at this point you would have the Dragonball Z OST playing but I guess not.

Voices can be ugh at times. I don't cringe from how a voice sounds. But I cringe when the wrong lines are said or the delivery is just makes go "Huh???" That's in this game. The lines that are apparently supposed to be said don't match the text box whatsoever so certain characters.

Frieza text box says: "Hmph....tired already."
Frieza actually says: "WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH POWER?!"

A minor gripe I have is who up there at Namco-Bandai decided it was okay to make TFS DBZ Abridged Nappa voice a create a character voice? All it says is, "Vegeta." I know TeamFourStar is probably the main reason why Dragonball is so popular now with it's memes and gay jokes. (No I don't have a problem with the series). But why was this given a green light? I just have a feeling that somewhere in the future when there's an AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd) they're gonna note this very thing and harp on it worse than I am right now.

Then...I have to bring this up. Cause it's pretty much the butt of most Xenoverse jokes. Trunks's epic "Guys..." line. It's so out of place. It doesn't even sound like Trunks. The script is fine. But the delivery was so horrible it's as if they recorded some random guy talking to his buddies when it's said. While the voice acting altogether isn't horrible. Cause I've seen far worse atrocities (Chaos Wars being one).  It's pretty notable as bad voice acting in videogames.

Sound effects are pretty good. Sounds mainly just like Dragonball Z. So I can't hate on that.

I'm not gonna get into the bugs and glitches this game has. It's completely different story and well I stuck with this game for as long as I did cause I'm a fan. I liked it for the fact that I'm not stuck playing as Goku or some other main character and I got to create my own guy to save the day. I wish more games like this was made. Naruto & Bleach technically have done it with there MMORPG. But I would really like to create my own character.

If you're a fan of Dragonball in some way. Then there's a good chance you'll like this game. If not. Or you never even heard of the anime series or videogames. Then you're gonna hate this game. Xenoverse 2 is far better as it fixed most of the problems that this game has.

Die for Valhalla - Preview Copy #1

Kickstarter: @monstercouch

So here's the deal behind this game. I was approached to play this game for there kickstarter awhile ago. They didn't want videos released until today when there campaign started. I planned to do more videos on it but man how my time was ate up by so much other stuff. I might do more later.

Anyway this game...There logo should put DIE in big red letters not the Valhalla part. It's obviously aiming for unforgiving difficulty. You die and experience harsh punishment for dying.

So the premise of the game is that demons are rebels are taking over the world and thus Odin the wise god who knows everything and how to handle things sends his Valkyrie to take care of the problem. Don't worry Odin knows best right?....Right???? Right????....

Okay I don't know about many other people but I know for myself in the previous games I've played that had Odin in it. Aside from Final Fantasy games. Odin is not only a bad ruler/god to the point that he's a dick. But he really sucks at his job. Like really sucks. Valkyrie Profile 2, Odin Sphere, Marvel's Thor, the list goes on.

So anyway you're a Valkyrie sent down from the heavens to take care of the problem...But well...Valkyries suck in this world. This ain't no Valkyrie Profile. As one of Odin's agents you have powers but well your powers suck and you can die....easily. So you have another power. You can possess fallen warriors and have them fight for you. In fact you need these guys to fight for you cause when I say your powers suck they really suck.

So the difficulty thing. Let's talk about this. This game wants you to suffer. It eases you in with the first 2 or 3 stages. Then they start to kill you. You don't have much to manage but in reality it's a lot to think about before moving on. The warrior you decide to possess gains levels as they defeat enemies but if they die it's back to lvl 1 they go. You'll come across a lot of graves of fallen warriors and you sit there and think to yourself.

  • Should I keep going?
  • Should I put this warrior back to rest?
  • How much longer is this level?
  • What enemies lie ahead?
  • Can I make it?

Yeah the questions build on and on. And one mistake will cost you dearly. It's a bit like real life actually.

Well should you make a mistake and die. Your warrior dies so you have another chance. Time to quickly flee to the next grave and resurrect that guy to fight for you. And you better do it fast cause the enemy is now eyeing you.

How many glory points do you get for killing a Valkyrie? I don't know but should your Valkyrie die you get the NES/Atari/Classic Arcade game treatment. You get kicked back quite a distance with a completely new Valkyrie. Odin doesn't care for that one that died. He's got plenty more Valkyries to send in  your place. He must be sending the brand new Valkyrie cause these suck just as bad as the one you started with.

When I say you get kicked back quite a distance. Did you ever play games like "I Wanna Be the Guy", "Classic Megaman", "Ninja Gaiden", etc? Remember how those games punished you when you die by kicking you back such a far distance in the stage that you're frustrated not only from dying but how much you have to repeat a stage to reach the end or the next checkpoint?  Yeah I'm talking about that.  "Die for Valhalla" does this to you. Doesn't help that the enemies are incredibly annoying and difficult to deal with. You have these little guys that keep rushing into you. Some dudes casting magic spells. Archers. You're busy trying to survive for the most part. And the game doesn't let you move forward until everything on screen is dead. Yeah...

In fact this game is so difficult, the guys here at monstercouch actually made a challenge to those who got there demo to beat it. Those that could beat the demo get free download codes. They're that confident that you will not easily beat this game.

I couldn't do it. But if you like dying constantly from unfair odds and being punished heavily for dying as well as frustration. Then Die for Valhalla may be your type of game.
